chris49 Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 (edited) Hello All, Will Any PH Bank let me open an account online? From New York I should say, so I will not be in PH to open it. Thanks I would like to take a stab at that by saying yes. HSBC on line or Internet banking. https://www.hsbc.com.ph/1/2/home Or Citibank. Local banks, no, don't waste your time there. HBSC has a few branches scattered around while Citibank has just one main branch, in Makati, as I know. Edited May 19, 2015 by chris49
intrepid Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 I just talked to Philippine National Bank in New York about two hours ago. I wanted to open an account with them here and deposit dollars to be withdrawn in Pesos in the Philippines. The bank rep here told me they have no banking privilages here in the US. Their function here is to help you open your bank account in the Philippines and your deposits would go directly to your Philippine National Bank (PNB) account at the branch you open in your choice of locations in the Philippines. You cannot deposit or withdrawal from the PNB in the US. It is designed for SS or other retirement type deposits. This option may work for some but not me. I want a little more control over my funds. By the way, for what it is worth, Bank of America has the lowest wire transfer fees I found so far. $25.00 transfer fee for a limit of $50,000 per month.
Gratefuled Posted May 20, 2015 Posted May 20, 2015 I don't think so. Here's what I did. When in the Philippines, I opened a joint account with my wife at a Philippine Bank. Then, when I went back to the states, I designated my wife to receive money sent by me via internet. All I had to do was give my US bank the Swift Code of my Philippine bank and my wife's name and our joint account number. I can send and receive on the internet from either the US or here in the Philippines. I can send up to $3000 daily but I usually just send $1500 for a $2 fee deducted from my checking account in my US bank.
