virginprune Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 I have no idea, this is what it says on my bill. My bills are 884p If you divide that amount by the KW used in that period you will get the kwph costing. Breakdown of my bill of usage of 98 kWh Gen System Charge @4.22 kWh. 414.37 Power Act Reduction @0.21 kWh -21.20 Trans System Charge @0.87 kWh 85.94 System Loss Charge @0.64 kWh 62.73 Dist System Charge @0.46 kWh 45.21 Supply System Charge @0.53 kWh 52.68 Meter Cust Charge. 5.00 Meter System Charge @0.53 kWh 31.51 Reinv Fund CAPEX @0.53 kWh 52.33 Lifeline Rate Subsidy. 9.44 VAT Generation. 44.73 VAT System Loss. 2.69 VAT Distribution. 22.40 VAT Others. 1.14 Franchise Tax. 1.08 UC-ME NPC SPUG. 15.13 Environmental Share. 0.25 UC-ME RED. 0.17 Stranded Contract Cost. 18.99 FIT Allowance. 3.98 Total Bill. 848.52 I read it that the electric rate is 4.22 kWh, all the other costs being the ancillaries. I am happy to be corrected if this is a wrong assumption.

So overall your Kwh based on 98 kw used will be 842.52 divided by 98 = 08.65 peso per kwh which is more in line with most of us, here in Dumaguete it is about 09.45 JP :tiphat:

I was reading it like a UK bill were the cost of the actual electricity used is the majority of the bill, with standing charge and VAT etc added on. Thomas Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 I have heard of this old scam Loic. The local electric company here in metro (Meralco) is on this like flies on poop. You can see them wandering the streets, eyes up in the sky looking for splices and such. But are they monitoring sneak connections to THEIR cable =BEFORE anyomes meter,or are they monitoring sneak connections AFTER anyones meter too so someone will pay them? :mocking:

Gratefuled Posted June 26, 2015 Posted June 26, 2015 I just paid my bill from Davao Electric. 4794.71 Pesos. The statement says that I average 600 kwh a month the past 3 months. Yes, I have a/c, electric fans, microwave oven, combo electric/gas stove, fridge, washer and dryer, 2 tvs, and computer. Yes, we also have our share of brownouts. Longest ones recently lasted over an hour, and another one a little less than an hour. Not as bad as Zamboanga but bad enough. I don't mind the cost. I just hate the brownouts.
Maxheadspace Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 OK, so kick-starting this thread again, I'm looking for comments on cost of electricity in the downtown Manila area. The posts are kind of all over the map. I've become a bit pampered over the years with perpetual air conditioning. So what can I expect for electricity in the Manila area if I'm running the AC 24/7? I'm not that big on TV, max two hours a day, but usually not that much. I do have my computer on quite a bit. My wife says that with the cost of electricity in the Philippines, most do not use air conditioning. Maybe so with the locals, but I can't imagine Europeans/Americans giving up AC completely. Unless maybe living on the beach, or up in the mountains, of course. When I lived in the lower Central America area in the tropics 30 years ago, we didn't have air conditioning, but the living accommodations were all designed for air flow to keep things as cool as possible. Not the same in a condo, I imagine.
