Dave Hounddriver Posted June 25, 2015 Posted June 25, 2015 I just had to chuckle when I saw the following ad: http://olx.ph/item/real-estate-house-for-rent-ID4VpSJ.html?p=14#15c0810348 It says house for rent at 5,000 and it is in Tanjay, which is only a half hour drive from Dumaguete. I thought I would mention it here for anyone looking for a nice looking place on a budget. So I open the ad and it says: Rental : P7,000 per month What can you say. Idiots. But it got me to open the ad :hystery:
BrettGC Posted June 25, 2015 Posted June 25, 2015 I'm just curious as to what a "receiving area" is? Still cheap though.

Dave Hounddriver Posted June 25, 2015 Author Posted June 25, 2015 I'm just curious as to what a "receiving area" is? Good question. I didn't notice that on the pic until you pointed it out. Maybe thats where you negotiate the rent and you get to be on the 'receiving' end :hystery:
i am bob Posted June 25, 2015 Posted June 25, 2015 Receiving Area is a livingroom area immediately inside the door. People who use the term Receiving Area will insist that a Sala is a separate room away from the outside entry. I have found that when there are 2 prices listed like this one does that the lower price is the asking price... The price was lowered but not all the pertinent data was changed.

I get the line "price increase" when asking why the 2 different prices. But this is Philippines so your mileage will vary.

So contact them and then send your filipina gf in to negotiate ;). As we know, never rent a place off the internet price basically; it caters to gullible westerners. Hunt it down, and send her in  But it's still bloody cheap sight unseen given where it is. The inspection may be very telling.
RBM Posted June 26, 2015 Posted June 26, 2015 Recent visit we both commented on many units for rent in Dumaguete, not sure why. Maybe over built or perhaps just this time of the year. On misleading prices, we bought a key board in Digitec which we have found to be honest and reliable. Displayed price P270, but time to pay it jumped to P300. No tax on sales invoice, could not get sense from cashier so just shook head and paid.

THE DTI has a rule which is enforced when YOU the customer will enforce it,,, that if 2 prices are displayed the LOWEST PRICE is the one that will be used to purchased the item(s) sorry but i dont have the link to support that. in the past i could recall the exact url/site to support that info. maybe when 1 goes to a SM service desk desk that may have that pamphlet Edited June 26, 2015 by Call me bubba
Dave Hounddriver Posted June 26, 2015 Author Posted June 26, 2015 the LOWEST PRICE is the one that will be used to purchased the item Yep, have brought that up in Robinsons and in Rustans. Have you tried to enforce your rights in that area? You will get treated like crap and pleaded with about they gonna lose their job if you insist and then they will run back to the shelf and rip off all the incorrect prices. Been there done that. But this thread is about real estate rentals and DTI rules do not apply.
