Popular Post Mike In Canada Posted July 6, 2015 Popular Post Posted July 6, 2015 I built a sea wall 2 years ago, so I thought I would share the process incase any of you will need to do the same. I hired my brother in law who is a fisherman, and some of his friends (also fisherman) as well as some other relatives (brother in laws) to do the work.I purchased all materials and paid for there lunch & snacks cooked by my mother in law and sister in laws & each were paid a daily wage per worker. This worked out extremely well as I found that the fishermen not only knew how to build sea walls but worked extremely fast and hard. They slept on my property Monday to Saturday and went home Sundays with their pay. There was no well or toilet just an empty lot. They brought a fishing boat and caught their dinner in the evenings. The only tools were shovels & a cement mixer supplied no charge by the store that sold us the cement as we purchased a lot of materials. I also built a large field stone fence and road. Here is a pictorial of building a sea wall Part 1

No we did not, all cement, sand and rebar was ordered in from the local supply stores. Mind you my neighbour, a lady from the States hired the local engineer to build a guest house and fence while she was out of the country and we watched as all the sand came from the beach. She also had them build a rest area, covered area that was torn down 6 months later and re-built by new contractors.
Guy F. Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 Many places in the PI have restrictions concerning how close to the ocean anything can be built. I hope that does not apply in your area.
Mike In Canada Posted July 6, 2015 Author Posted July 6, 2015 Many places in the PI have restrictions concerning how close to the ocean anything can be built. I hope that does not apply in your area. I am closer than my neighbours as the city offered all property owners on the sea the option to purchase more land closer to the water. There was only one or two land owner on the beach where I am that took the option. The land was sold in two parcels and I purchased one of them. The other neighbours are about 70 meters back from the front of my lot and most have tried purchasing the frontage but the city no longer offers it. I had the property marked by the city and inspected before starting the sea wall and fence. I think I am 30 meters from the water.
sonjack2847 Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 (edited) The last I heard was that the minimum you could build a house from the sea was 20 meters so you should be ok. Edited July 6, 2015 by sonjack2847
