Jollygoodfellow Posted August 23, 2015 Posted August 23, 2015 Im sure there is some nice places to be found but hard to know what amount you wish to pay? If your going to be there in a week best to wait and look while you are there as you don't want to be taking a long term lease on something found on the internet until you can be sure. You can get an idea of what might be available here, http://olx.ph/ and here http://www.cebuclassifieds.com/ and a google search will find more.

Steve & Myrlita Posted August 23, 2015 Posted August 23, 2015 (edited) Like JGF said ... Rent short term (hotel?) be on the ground and check. Don't rent pictures! They're right. Don't rent from an ad or picture unless you personally know the place. Remember, here there are no truth in advertising laws. At least none that are enforced. If you get taken, foreigners have no rights or remedies so please be careful. Edited August 23, 2015 by Steve & Myrlita

Thank you very much and I want to apologize for not have given more information in my opening post (I have edited right now my opening post). So is the strategy I and many others have used in cambodia similar possible in Cebu City? -> just arriving -> stay at first in a hotel -> just going around and looking for "to rent signs" and hope for the best? Do you maybe have any insidertips how other exapts are usually doing it in Cebu City? and thank you everybody for your warnings? My plan was never to rent soemthing upfront - that would be just not the smartest way. I just wonder what is my best strategy to finding a palce once i have arrived (while hoping that it will be similar easy like finding a place in PhnomPenh)? From my experience nothing is easy in Cebu. You have had excellent advice, stay hotel for a few months before deciding anything. Cebu city is not for all, definitely not for this guy. Jollygoodfellow Posted August 25, 2015 Posted August 25, 2015 Do you maybe have any insidertips how other exapts are usually doing it in Cebu City? Quite a few of them are on the wrong side of their youth so I suspect they are just laying on their back while the partner does the work. Not just in Cebu either. Now back to a condo, you are looking in the $350-500 range. In my opinion will be hard to find and for that price I would not have too many expectations. Some people hire a taxi and go searching, you may approach condo buildings and talk to the guard as usually some will point you to something. As for Ayala and It park I really doubt if your price is high enough. Here are some but probably taken, http://rentpad.com.ph/long-term-rentals/cebu/apartment

riburn3 Posted August 25, 2015 Posted August 25, 2015 That price range is going to be tough in those two areas. One bedrooms in either location typically rent for double that. If you can swing it, buying a small 1BR condo in either location will cost $50k and it can become a great income property. My wife and I rent ours in the IT Park for half the year and make a tidy profit.
