It's men and women of all shapes, sizes and color. While I do agree some companies are slick and their ethic questionable, the other side of the coin is humans are greedy, both the companies and those that fall prey to them. I use to do customer service for various companies and some were pretty big reputable ones. I found people literally hear what they want to hear. They hear the word FREE but not the word "trial" as in "free trial and after that its only $19.99" Or they think what they want and when you warn them to investigate further they can't be bothered. For example they hear "free trial period" of something and don't want to ask or pay attention to the fact that the first month may be completely free and then you start to pay for something or it is a free period to try then thing but if you decide to keep it you have to pay for the trial period after a certain date unless you send it back. All you can do is educate your wife, tell her to ask questions until she is satisfied and even then get a second opinion, namely yours. Tell her to call you with all the details and questions she asked and I am sure you will have some additional questions of your own. Teach her to be a skeptic and that all that glitters is not gold. If on occasion that doesn't work, have a plan B, another words the first sign you see of a new item that comes into your house or the first mention of something she got for free, you read all the fine print and send it on back. Another good things to mention to her is that when you buy things from the TV or radio 99.99999% of the time you pay the return shipping and sometimes even the shipping to you. Often times you can get the same things for the same prices or cheaper on Ebay and pay with Paypal and have MUCH more protection on the purchase, even then though check the shipping too you and to return. I got suckered once when I bought something on Ebay and it was only 99 cents with "free shipping*" when I completed my purchase I noticed $20 shipping and handling on my bill. I contacted the seller they said it was "Store policy" and it was noted at the bottom of the page that free shipping was on orders of $20 or more or something like that. I filed a dispute with Ebay and won, customers almost always win. I could have also filed a dispute with Paypal with the same result. That was many years ago and nowadays on Ebay such occurrences are not as frequent. I am sure you know most of that but maybe breaking it down to her in detail will help and I hope it does. I feel your frustration my friend so you are not alone.

Forum Support Mike J Posted September 9, 2015 Forum Support Posted September 9, 2015 Another scam is the "Free, you only pay shipping and handling". The "handling" pays for the shoddy merchandise and also gives them a handsome profit. If you pay the shipping and handling to send it back, they screw you twice.
