Popular Post chris49 Posted October 10, 2015 Popular Post Posted October 10, 2015 I don't know why....if in fact you know the song. Gina will have a bad day now and then, usually related to the kids but she doesn't change much. She's very hard worker by nature, almost by instinct she starts her work around 5 AM. We talked about the pigs and the need to sell one to top up the house extension money. We did not fully agree, but I thought she got the message. We talked and I wrote a few things down for reference. We have enough food for 2 more weeks, so if we sell soon, we can stretch out the food. Or if we wait 2 weeks we might get some more growth. The food is already in a paid for. I calculated we can sell on the 20th. Start the extension immediately, cutting it a bit fine but it will work. Today she jumps on the motorbike with her mother and the 2 kids. She says she's going off to the market to arrange the sale. Nothing I can do, it's her motorbike they are her pigs. I don't like it, but say nothing. She comes back in a hour. "Yes honey, what have you done?" "Nothing, I contacted the buyer, she's coming here on the 20th just like you said" And that's why I love her more. She has her moments, but she gives me no trouble.

Popular Post WordsandMusic Posted October 10, 2015 Popular Post Posted October 10, 2015 We get older and start to think with a different head/state of mind if you will? What we offer as older gentlemen is a world perspective born from hits and misses/ triumphs and failures, experience is pure gold. We adapt better than we did when we were younger to our partners. Things we thought were so important as young men, like drinking beer every Friday night, we learn are not near as important as keeping our families safe and happy. Spending bill money on a fishing trip as I often did as a young man. So we are flexible in mindset knowing that we can live a simple non stressful life if we are willing to let go of some control and allow our partners to make some decisions. As partners of Filipinas, we are not only partners but teachers as well, whether we except that roll or not. These ladies in most instances are younger and lack our experience. It doesn't mean we are right all the time, it doesn't mean we are smarter. We just have more experience period. My wife is much smarter than I, something I would never have admitted as a twenty something. If she had my experience along with her drive and intellect, no doubt she would be healthy, wealthy and wise beyond what I have mustered up in my life time. Analyzing the information regarding the pig and when to sell is just one example of a filipina extracting information and applying a more palatable result by insuring she had the sale set in stone prior to the date of sale. She knew how important that sale was to her families needs and left nothing to chance. Listening to her husband…..wonderful! Being smart about the information and the needs of the family……priceless!!!!!!!!!!
Popular Post El Negrito Posted October 10, 2015 Popular Post Posted October 10, 2015 (edited) An ancient proverb says: "Who can find a capable wife? Her value is far more than that of corals. Her husband trusts her from his heart, And he lacks nothing of value. She rewards him with good, not bad, All the days of her life. She obtains wool and linen; She delights to work with her hands. She is like the ships of a merchant, Bringing her food in from afar. She also rises while it is still night, Providing food for her household And portions for her female servants. She sets her mind on a field and buys it; She plants a vineyard from her own labors. She prepares herself for hard work, And she strengthens her arms. She sees that her trading is profitable; Her lamp does not go out at night." Never have truer words been spoken. Larry45 Posted October 10, 2015 Posted October 10, 2015 (edited) Cheers Steve. Too bad it takes time to find the right partner. "There never seems to be enough time, to do the things, you wanna do once you find them." JIm Croce "TIme in a Bottle" I think we all feel that at some point, at least those of us that still have a heart...thanks for sharing, Chris edit.. My wife is much smarter than I, That's why looks go out the window if you get a girl with a good brain. Filipina's are pretty anyway, but looks become secondary over the long haul. Hard to deal with person who does not have an active brain. Or one who thinks she is smarter than you.
Vince Runza Posted November 1, 2015 Posted November 1, 2015 Cheers Steve. Too bad it takes time to find the right partner. Btw I paragraphed that twice but it reverted to narrative form, not sure why. If, by 'paragraphed', you mean you indented the first word of the new paragraph, that doesn't work here. Nor can you use certain punctuation without creating little pictures :D. Welcome to the wonderful World of Internet grammar, mechanics, and punctuation :P
