Popular Post frosty (chris) Posted October 15, 2015 Popular Post Posted October 15, 2015 (edited) Taking my partner from Mactan to Cebu last week about 7pm. The road approaching the bridge that goes to Cebu on the Mactan side for some reason is always closed off so you have to take the main road to the right go up about 1k and do a U turn where there is a break it the center barricade and then come back to access the bridge. This night I was in the correct lane for the U turn but swung a bit wide when going around, lo and behold there are 2 traffic enforcers right at that turn point. They waved me down, Sir, that was an illegal turn Me, Why, I was just following the line of traffic Sir, you swung to wide and could have hit someone. Me, the only people I can hit are all standing on the road taking up one lane when they should be on the footpath (sidewalk) Sir, they are waiting for Jeepney. Me, Yes and they are on the road, which is dangerous in itself. About now I get a swift jab in the side from the better half, and the death stare, so I do what any sane man does and shut up. They have a 5 min jabber about what I have no idea Sir, Licence Please Me No problem. The enforcer then spends time in broken english telling me that my licence will be cancelled for 15 days and I will have to attend a week of driving instruction courses, well I nearly fall out the car laughing, driving lessons here, you can't be serious. Well to cut a very long story short, there was a sleight of hand, and it was, this is only a warning sir, in the future please be more careful, have a good evening sir, enjoy your time in the PI. Me, Same to you and enjoy your dinner Edited October 15, 2015 by frosty (chris)

DavidK Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 Well they haven't got me yet but just a matter of time I suppose. Having a sun-screen cover so dark** you can't see in the car does reduce the chances of being done for DWW though. Mind it does make driving at night a bit chancy but I always did drive by feel when it got dark anyway. **Not selected by me, it came with the car, eventually it will get replaced.

We don't have Highways like being referred to here in Dumaguete but a very Dark Tint is a Pull job here, the Local PNP and LTO seem to think it is a Give away of something to Hide. Just saying  Jack

We have A/C in the car but I always drive with my windows down, I do have that dark gangstar tinting but at night I find it a little difficult to drive with. Just be careful at meal times :mocking: seems they leave their lunch/dinner money at home. Edited October 15, 2015 by frosty (chris)
Dave Hounddriver Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 (edited) I understand that bribing traffic enforcers happens in some Philippine cities. As the forum does not condone corruption lets steer the discussion away from where you can or can't do it or how much to offer. We encourage people to drive safely and follow the rules. When that does not work then sometimes ya gotta do what ya gotta do but keep it on the down low.
