Popular Post OnMyWay Posted November 7, 2015 Popular Post Posted November 7, 2015 I have something to share but I don't want to post in the bullet scam topic anymore. That thread has gone downhill to the point of being unpleasant. That is what can happen when one or two people filled with negativity take over a topic. Nothing positive usually results. We flew Clark to Singapore on Friday. When we went through the first security checkpoint, the nice lady made a point of telling us that she could not touch the bags and we needed to push them through the machine. Our flight was delayed about an hour. Good old Cebu Pacific. While waiting, a TV type crew came into the waiting area. After a while they asked me if they could interview me about airport security. I said OK and we went on camera. They asked what I thought about the security at Clark and I said everything was fine. They asked if I had heard about the bullet scam and I said yes. They asked if I was nervous about it and I said yes, but the security actions told me they were trying to address it and that made us feel better. I also told them we like Clark because it was uncrowded. The camera crew was followed by what appeared to be airport management. I think this was not a TV station but maybe cable or for promotional video. Anyway, it is nice to see management taking steps to address the issue and probably promote Clark as not being involved in the bullet scam. No terrorists were observed at Clark.
Forum Support Old55 Posted November 7, 2015 Forum Support Posted November 7, 2015 Interesting. Thanks for sharing. Curious to know who was behind the media and the intended audience would be. I have some connected Filipinos friends who think this has more to do with upcoming elections than the will to stop the shakedowns.

Forum Support Old55 Posted November 7, 2015 Forum Support Posted November 7, 2015 (edited) Hey there Jack. :attention: I agree with the topic title. it's not about a bullet. Both say the shake downs (more than just the bullet extort) are well known to many powerful folks in Manila. Nearly all of them have something to hide so one group are outing the activity that can hurt the other players the most. Few or none of those political clicks give a darn about anything but power and money. They also specifically said this was to hurt the ruling party suggesting not only that they were involved but also letting it go on during thier watch. Forum Support Popular Post scott h Posted November 7, 2015 Forum Support Popular Post Posted November 7, 2015 Thought of this last night, thought I would throw it up against the wall and see if it sticks. We all know there is a certain amount of corruption here in the Philippines. The scope, political level and impact on society is for another topic. My thought is like how sari-sari stores are opened. One guy opens one up, does well and his neighbor says "I want some of that" and opens one up also. Until there is a sari-sari every 15 feet :hystery: . I'm wondering if it is possible that same sort of thing happened here. We know that this type of scam has been going on for a while now. (some news reports have mentioned it a year or so ago). But maybe in the lunch room one screener might have said "hey I made 500 pesos off an tourist today, and here is how" and his neighbor says to himself "I'm going to get me some of that!" Pretty soon bullets are being found in every other bag :1 (103): . Just a though :cheersty:

No terrorists were observed at Clark. Thank you Don for sharing another excellent boots on the ground report. i would pay extra to be diverted to Clark. I avoid Manila like the plague. But there is one thing I would like to introduce for the newly arrived expats. I would open up a couple of baluts (not bullets) which may cause a mass stampede to get away from that awful smell.....he, he.

I will respect your suggestion. Honestly did not post intending it to become a "Why I hate Philippines" because for good or bad I love the place and have many friends and family who mean the world to me. Truly! :tiphat: Not to call you out but it is OK to post politics if it pertains to Philippines and is not done in a way to incite other forum members. Again I say this with respect in regards to you as well as your new topic. :cheersty:
Jack Peterson Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 Not wanting to Muddy this Topic with Political C...p but it will be someones elses' watch Next year and things won't Change, Will they? This my friend does not to me indicate a Spiraling down or a Political Bias viewpoint. In fact I thought it was quite a Positive Note. Having said that, I can't really see you having a Totally Positive Discussion on this Issue. The Very Nature of a Discussion is based on Opinions and Views and the answers it will Bring. Some Positive and some Negative. * Take it or leave it.* I don't just Leave Topics I believe have a Future, If there is something to say or Answer, That's me but reading your Request, I would Agree it is No place for Politics But............. Jack :)
