But maybe Dave, it solves another problem for you. If you have promised her this and processed it, your intention was good. The denial gets you off the hook for the trip and the expenses.

aaaarg so sorry to hear that Dave. I know from  previous having the gf turned down fro a visa to visit japan. Is there a time limit before you can apply again, did you apply for a conjugal visa or visitor visa?

They say you can apply again 'if circumstances change'.  This was an application for a visitor visa as I am planning a 3 week visit to my relatives ad she was going to come with.  There is no time to re-apply but it seems to me that its good to have that application on record.  I've noticed that very few people, in our situation, get approved the first time.  Most seem to get approved if they apply again in a year or so.  Just an observation with no facts to back that up.
