As a "Western Man" my post was as glib and facile as the original and about as well researched. I thought the term B@stard was complimentary In Australia JGF, hence Woodfull's response to Jardine when he complained that one of the slip fielders had called him a b@stard - "Which one of you b@stards called this b@stard a b@stard?"

Original topic was anecdotal. Looking for other viewpoints, other experiences.

 

Jardine, Woodfull, Bradman, Larwood, Bodyline was not included. But I like it, been reading (again) the history recently.

A pig’s claim to fame (other than being scrumptious lechon material) is its voraciousness for consumables. Since when did sex become a consumable? Can't consume a girl no matter how diminutive.

 

While I don't believe that all men are pigs, many are. The word "pig" is appropriate to describe what some think as men's general desire for a voracious sexual appetite.

 

Some men consume women, body, mind and soul, by using them as sexual objects and nothing more. They have no intention of a relationship and the ones that do can often times still fall victim to their own desires for sex and forget that the woman is a partner and that they should put their sexual desires aside at times.

 

Some women can be consumed by this and suffer, emotional, mental or physical breakdowns. One area that proves this is the proliferation of pornography worldwide. So yes a girl can be consumed by a pig of a man.

 

I only post this because no one else seems to have addressed it and I wanted to help clarify the matter. But your comparison to rabbits is valid as male rabbits not only are very sexually active but are sometimes prone to cannibalism of their young if they are not neutered. 

 

Now again to clarify I was just saying I understood what the writer was saying about what some people think and that for some it could be considered a valid comparison.

 

I honestly thing that generally men want a good relationship and are good at heart. Yes there are some bad apples but don't let that spoil the bunch. So I would not label men or women as all one thing or another. Also we have to think that if we do label all men and women and men as one thing or another, maybe we are not choosing our associates wisely or keeping great company.

 

Most of the men and women I know are pretty decent upstanding people and are very caring and loving and kind.

I wanted to answer before JGF decides a lockdown of this thread is warranted. Boss man, I want to say I like you much better when you are funny than when you are right, and here re. the knock against my writing style and font choice, of course you are! Stepping back to assess the lay of the land, I do see the 'showboat' complexion of the bigger fonts and that the most interesting exchanges have  good flow, are conversational, and often funny. I will now crawl into my rabbit (there's that word again) hole as penance, to re-emerge only when my writing style is improved and rehabbed enough to conform.  I wish everyone here well.  Ron M.

JFG I understand why you are upset, some blanket statements have been made and that is bound to upset people. I am not sure that all the writers intended them in a serious manner. But you are right, we do have to be careful of what we post and think twice before posting, myself included. I think we will all be a bit more careful in the future.

 

That said I think we have developed a bit of a "Band of Brothers" and almost family type of atmosphere and we tend do say things of the top of our head because of that. I am not saying that it's right but I do think that it's nice that many feel that comfortable with fellow board members.

 

 

 

 

 

I don't think anyone wants you to crawl in a hole and I don't think you meant to "showboat" I think JFG was saying it could give that impression. For me it didn't, lots of people just have a preferred font and color when they write. For me I am a black and Times New Roman man. I use to like to write in red but I quickly learned many people didn't appreciate the color and found it too loud. I do understand the feeling of wanting to be quiet and just go away, I am the same sometimes and end up not contributing at times. Later people ask me why I have been so quiet and not commented in various chats or on forums.

 

That said I understand both sides and hope the thread can get back on track rather than being locked down. I think things will cool off and people will post more judiciously in the future, or at least I hope.
