Popular Post Methersgate Posted March 24, 2016 Popular Post Posted March 24, 2016 The weather was British but everyone had a wonderful time. The ceremony was at the Athenaeum in Bury St Edmunds and the breakfast was at the Royal Harwich Yacht Club. We were almost late because the bride managed to break the zip on the maid of honour's dress, necessitating a visit to the local Co-Op store for safety pins - they robbed their First Aid box! The bride's choice of attire may have set a new trend... and she gave a very witty speech...

Bury St Edmunds (along the A 45, isn't it?). I was assigned at Lakenheath, lived primarily at Newmarket and in Thetford for a short time. So I am familiar with the area.

I fear I may not have told everyone, due to a superstitious fear that something might go wrong! The bride's seven year old son performed the role of the Hobbit, as his stepbrothers put it! The older stepbrother was at sea, but phoned, the younger one was an usher... The Maid of Honour flew in from Subic (she is on a course at Warsash Maritime College). The bride was given away by her English brother in law, who at her request was dressed as a Teddy Boy...
