NII must have some Answers somewhere or What is the Point. Jack as I understand the usage and excess to the grid applies just to private people. I think that was Daves Point, Where does the Power go. He produced it before 6pm but needs it after, Thing I would be asking is, Is it lost? Anyway, I am having Lunch Tomorrow with an Engineer who might be able to throw some light on it. Hydro power. During the day the solar power could pump the water up to the dam and during the night the resulting hydro-electric power would supply the countries needs. I know of one power plant which does this. Pumps water up into a reservoir when the cost of producing is low or they have excess capacity, then use the hydro power from that when they need peak capacity. Use it as a way to store energy. This can be economically feasible depending on a number of factors.
MikeSwede Posted May 1, 2016 Posted May 1, 2016 Renewable energy... ahhh. My kind of topic. Heating of liquids (high temperature oil preferably) baked in sand is not a bad option, letting it boil steam for turbines at peak-power hours. We will build a small powerbank at home to level out nightly brownouts, since we run most on gas, it will not be too complicated. If I just get this months fiddling about over with here in Spain, I make a drawing and create a diy topic in the end of May. I am certain most of you know how to handle a screwdriver of any shape or form :)
