Our furniture is almost gone - we had no heirlooms. We will be shipping 8 or 9 balikbayan boxes. Amazing how much can be fit into a box. And yes we'd love to meet and hopefully our paths will cross. Same here, just started packing our stuff for Philippines in July 17. At this stage it looks like only 3 or 4 BB boxes. What is the rate back to the States? Here it is 5100bht (6500 pesos), I think the price reflects the time taken to fill containers etc, as traffic not as busy on Bkk to Man route.? It is La Union for us. That price is for the Jumbo boxes. Edited May 17, 2017 by mogo51
Popular Post Reboot Posted May 18, 2017 Author Popular Post Posted May 18, 2017 (edited) Since we're on the subject, shipping a Filipina to the US is expensive. She just boarded the plane. Edited May 18, 2017 by Reboot

Popular Post Reboot Posted May 19, 2017 Author Popular Post Posted May 19, 2017 (edited) Filipina coming to America update.... She's stuck in Dallas-Fort Worth. Nasty weather. Tornado warnings in the region People puking in on the way in from Tokyo because it's a rough flight. Ongoing flight to Florida cancelled. Other women would be losing their shit. Including my ex. Not this girl. And she won't even go to hotel. I insisted but she doesn't like to waste money...and to be honest, from her perspective, it's expensive. So she's going to sleep by the terminal with some fellow Filipinos. And she's messaging me with trust that I will take care of things if they get worse. Plus, I will add again, a country girl with total aplomb all alone in a strange country with just a few bucks in her purse. Around here, they don't make them like this anymore. Well, maybe I don't know where to find 'em, to be honest. So maybe it is just me. Edited May 19, 2017 by Reboot
Popular Post Reboot Posted May 25, 2017 Author Popular Post Posted May 25, 2017 Update after a week in the US. She's having a lot of fun (me too). Already there's a half dozen vegetables started from Filipino seeds in planters. Going to have to make some raised beds. She loves the we're on a hectare of land for her to work on and grow things. Wants to rework my landscape, and she says there's some "lucky" plants she wants to grow out in front of the house next to the "Mama Mary" statue. She's out there right now planting garlic and looking after the little hot Filipino peppers I started a couple of weeks before her arrival. Took her to the craft store, I now have embroidery hanging from the wall made by her own hands. She's killer on the outdoor grill. We cruise on the bike all the time too. Went to the beach on Sunday. Yesterday she met the kids (I have a 9 and 7 yo from my previous marriage, with 50% custody), and they love her. "She's so nice Daddy" they told me when I took them to school this morning. Saturday we go to meet my relatives a couple of hours' drive away for my niece's First Communion.

I wonder what would be her favorite weapon? A sharp bolo knife or a Glock......he, he. Well done sir!
