let it slide for a month.

We ran into something like this in the past. Wife was giddy, thinking we got a free month. I had to remind her TANSTASFL!!!! (there aint no such thing as a free lunch). Put aside the amount that our bill usually is and waited.

Sure enough, the next month bill was double. As Jake would say "Chit happens" it will all come out even in the end.

Would be about 5 bottles up to now.:571c66d400c8c_1(103): But will need more encouragement if I am to drink brandy again.

Of course I had to report the situation. The cashier spotted it also. So it's automatic she filed a report, she says about 1-2 weeks for the technician to go here. If we get a break on the bill, so be it.

When I checked the meters, ours is not moving. But also the other 5 not moving or perhaps marginally, because we have a funeral and the whole barangay is out, or in the field.

Funny as it may sound. I passed the funeral procession while riding out on the highway, so I decided to take my helmet off as a sign of respect. You try that, ride the bike with one hand, while unclipping and removing the lid at 30 kph.

As for the meters, they may have dropped to half mast, they were quite low on the pole.

The technician has already been here to fix the problem. He did not come to the house so not sure if we are getting a month free.

Or 5 bottles of brandy, whichever is the lesser.

Oh yes, jump right in, 2 for 1 offer.

But I think there was no room, so I proceeded home safely.

The meter is never wrong. You are opening a can of worms disputing a mistake your favor. The power company won't even appreciate your honesty gesture because they have to send an investigator to check out your belief that there is something wrong. That's expensive compared to the monthly bill. Assume you are correct. Then all your neighbors can claim they have been overcharged by faulty meters. Therefore, the meter is always right.
