I have rented weekly, monthly, and 6-month terms. I never even considered this question and was never asked about a local bank account. Always only paid cash and never discussed any other type of payment. The security deposit was different but that is specific to each individual landlord.

Yes you can, this is the place you are refering too, http://www.apartelledearcenas.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=47&Itemid=18  ,you still need one month deposit and one month in advance

Depending on your budget here is another, http://strawberryresidencescebu.com/ , Here you pay P10000 deposit.

Another consideration

there is also the felly ann residence - it's part of the express inn cebu and is a block from the sm city...  i know their website lists prices starting at p20,000 a month but i was in there through november 2014 for half that and included utilities through one of the travel sites..  maybe you can get a better deal there...

I used to stay at Express Inn on Mactan and depending on the time of year and length of stay you could get a better price than on their website, when I moved here that's what I did, booked for a month and just spent everyday looking for a place to rent, was pain free and they had cold beer:7500:

As for rentals, have had 2 and both have been cash only payments, think a lot of filipino's have a healthy distrust for the banking system here.

Well for 3 months you wouldn't rent. The deposit would probably not be refunded.

You need an Apartelle with Cable TV, Air Con. 30k/month or below with some discount, 10-20% if paid in advance. And your security is going to be 100% better in an Apartelle.

Just so you know the different terms here Daran, a appartlette is what we in the states call a Motel. (don't know what they are called in Ireland :hystery:). Basically a budget hotel. Some you can rent for a period of 8 hours or so, just to give you an idea. I am almost positive that if you stay in one of those just your passport will suffice.

Are you sure it's eight hours increments? I thought it was four hours. Two hours if you plan to skip the preliminaries.

We know a French couple looking for accommodations in Tokyo. They came across a Love motel. Because of their limited English and the cashier's limited English, there was a misunderstanding. Someone started banging on their door during the middle of the night. They refused to open the door thinking it might be robbers.

One of the best kept secrets is that these "Love Motels" have a variety of rates and some of them are quite nice to stay in for a long term.  The Novo Hotel in Duma is such a place and quite reasonable for stays of a week or so.  I cannot remember their rates but here are some typical rates from a Queensland Hotel such as are located around Philippines.  As you can see, they have rates for 3 hours or for the whole week.  Its up to you, as they say
