Visa when leaving the country

I am planning short trip to Taiwan and going back to Philipines, however I am not sure how I should handle my situation with visa. I have 6 months visa which expired at 8th of July. I assume 6 months visa are mutiple entry, which means I can leave the country and come back on them (is that correct?).

Should I just go to airport pay the expiry visa fees, go to Taiwan, go back and apply for new Visa?
or
Should I go to Boi pay expiry fees, and apply for new 6 months visa with mutplie entries and than go to Taiwan?

I think you have problems that you need to sort out at BI days before you plan to leave.  If you have been in Philippines on a tourist visa for 6 months plus a day you will need an ECC to depart.  You won;t get that if you are behind on your visa and you won't get it at the airport.

I would go to BI immediately and clear up your overstay. Depending on which office you go to it might take a few days to get your visa straightened out.

I think it likely they will not process your exit clearance until you have a valid visa because a valid visa is one of the things they are checking for. This will probably mean you need a two month extension as there would only be a week left on a one month extension.

Yes, they are going to fine you AND charge you for the last months extension and I don't think you will get exit clearance in that time and you don't want to overstay the visa again.

Possibly your overstay and exit clearance could be processed faster in Manila.

I think if you had a multiple entry visa you would know it. As far as I know, multiple entry tourist visa are obtained before you come to the Philippines.

I believe that if you had converted a tourist visa into some other kind of (multiple entry) visa, you would remember it as it would take some effort.

I hope everything works out for you the best it can.

Yep.  There are such things but they are rare so chances are that the op has a normal 6 month tourist visa that expires when he leaves the country.

So it can all be cleared up with money AND a repentant attitude. (BI has been know to blacklist people who try to give them attitude when clearly in the wrong.)  Just be sure to get to the BI asap since the visa already ran out.  Tell them you were vacationing in the jungle and this was your first chance to get to an immigration office.

It is imperative to take care of this ASAP.  All govt services, including airport management are being scrutinized for corruption and work ethics.  There is a new sheriff in town (new president) and he means business about no more monkey business.

Attitude check -- attitude check -- attitude triple check

I think BOI would fix that for you immediately. Pay the renewal and the fine.

I would definitely go to BOI immediately. Going to the airport with an expired visa would be a mistake.

Thanks guys for responses. My friend overstayed for than two months and fees werent that severe, so I am not that scared (maybe I should be?). Yeah, I will go to BI and pay the fees and fill in Exit clearance. I will ask there about multiple entry visas, they most certainly know best.

The fine is not that big, I agree. The thing is you need to be current if you want to do something like leave in any kind of reasonable time frame. As it stands, I believe you need to get your visa current before they will consider your exit clearance. The local BI office I went to the one time I missed renewing my visa on time had to send it to Manila for consideration. Once you get your visa current and try to get an exit clearance, it will, last I heard also go to Manila. If you wanted to leave "today", it might be possible to leave in two weeks. That is why it's more fun in the Philippines.
