ITGeek Posted August 2, 2016 Posted August 2, 2016 Good afternoon! I am almost done with all the CRBA and Passport for my newborn son (now 2 mo's old today). On the CRBA checklist, the first item is the "Non-refundable CRBA Application Fee" in the amount of $105 USD (child under 16 yo). I'm confused, am I supposed to pay CRBA and Passport fee's upfront, or when at appointment at USEM - ACS cashier. I understand the courier fee to deliver the CRBA/Passport documents to USEM so I can get an appointment. Where and when am I supposed to pay for the CRBA and Passport fees? BTW - My wife and daughter are paying for their B1/B2 Tourist Visa fees, $160 each, my wallet is so light now. While opening joint checking account at BDO yeseterday with my wife, the bank officer stated we needed to pay the $160 MRV fee at BPI. I'm going back to US August 9th and returning to Manila on September 8th. I'm hoping all the stars and planets align so that I may schedule the CRBA/Passport/SSN and Visa appointments within a couple of days of each other. It would be a pain to drive make multiple trips from Cabanatuan to Manila if appointments are all spread out. Thanks for your help! I will be sending out CRBA package via LBC Express unless someone can recommend a more reliable and cheaper courier service Cheers! Andy
ITGeek Posted August 2, 2016 Author Posted August 2, 2016 Ignore my previous post. I read the CRBA check list about 5 times, and finally noticed you pay fees at consulate. I swear those instructions are like reading IKEA installation instructions.

That is how it was with my daughter. They were good at answering my e-mails within a day or two when I was trying to figure it all out. chris49 Posted August 2, 2016 Posted August 2, 2016 You do pay at the embassy at the time of your appointment. The interviewer will tell you to go and pay the fee, which is a sign your application has been accepted. If there is anything lacking, the interviewer will tell you the fee is optional. You have 90 days to comply with any deficiency, if the application does fail, you lost the fee. 99.9% you will pass if you are legally married. Maybe they will check to see if you were physically present at the time of conception, maybe not also.

I have my passport visa stamps from Sept 8th to Sept 30th 2015, plus NSO marriage certificate dated Sept 28th 2015. Since our baby was born June 2nd on NSO BC and ultrasound reports, I don't think they'll require a DNA test. Talk about a shotgun wedding When I returned to US, I filed I-130 CR-1 and paid $940 fees for wife and her daughter only to find out month later she was pregnant. So kissed that money goodbye, because I decided to take early retirement and relocate here. Plus I have her whole family here to help out, since it's my first baby. Believe me, they all take great care of "super pogi" baby, he gets a lot of attention.
ITGeek Posted September 9, 2016 Author Posted September 9, 2016 Mixed news on the CRBA/Passport appointment for my 3 month old baby boy. I had appointment at USEM this morning. The bad news, my asawa brought copies not originals of NSO BC/MC and even asked for inked signatures on the ultrasound and medical paperwork (we only had been given printed copies of those). The good news the CRBA CO interview went well and only required I send in original NSO BC/MC, no need for any original signatures on medicals (ultrasounds, etc) be sent to USEM to get USC and Passport. In addition, I only need to mail in the SS-5 form to SS office at USEM. BTW - I noticed on USEM website they are going to have outreach in Pampanga/Angeles area this month. Not sure on the dates off top of my head, so check the USEM website. Now, I'm praying and keeping my fingers crossed my asawa and her anak get their tourist visa approved on Monday. I had contacted both USEM and NVC to formally withdraw their I-130 CR-1 petitions and noted that in their DS-160 paperwork outlining they comply with the 214(b) requirements for which they were denied a few weeks ago. In addition, I told my asawa to specifically request CO interview be done in native language which should make it easier for her to understand questions and elaborate more clearly on answers instead of getting 'bloody nose' speaking English -
