AlwaysRt Posted August 10, 2016 Posted August 10, 2016 Depends on your specific location in the Phils what internet connections are available, which you choose, and sometimes even the time of day. I spent about 4 hours on video calls on Skype yesterday for example. (I have a wireless 4G "Broadband" connection)
russellmania Posted August 10, 2016 Author Posted August 10, 2016 Those topics are 4yrs old and older. Internet speed has not increased since 2012? That the question.

It doesn't take much bandwidth for a voice call. Worked fine for me both at home with a 1.5MBs DSL over wifi and also on my smart phone using the data plan. Just use the Magic Jack app on your smart phone.

I have used my friend's Magic Jack when needed but I don't bother with one for myself. He uses it all the time. He has had it for 3 years and it has worked all that time. Tukaram (Tim) Posted August 10, 2016 Posted August 10, 2016 I had the dongle for the laptop, but it quit working. But now they have a MagicJack app for the smartphone so I never bothered to get a new dongle. Anywhere I have WiFi the MagicJack works. The only problem I have is when I call my brother I never know where he is. We both have Texas phone numbers, I may be calling from Philippines... but he might be in Texas, or Spain, or Florida, or Hong Kong... We both use the MagicJack and they are great!

Reboot Posted August 10, 2016 Posted August 10, 2016 I've heard others recommend Google Voice. Not sure which might be best. I am already a Google customer for other services.
