I want to leave my main banking as is in the States and convert only what/when I want to.) There was nothing in the paperwork about it. During the interview he asked how much I got monthly, but asked for no proof. I only keep p5,000 or p10,000 here in BPI. Everything else stays in my US bank, but he did not ask about my banking at all. They asked very little of anything really.

Not the amount of your pension.

Not the amount of your pension. I believe you are both right. I will link to the site that shows you need $10K on deposit but you also need: Quote Certficate of Retirement Benefits, equivalent to at least US$800/month (single applicant) or US$1,000/month (couple) Which comes up pretty close to $10K a year in pension. AlwaysRt Posted August 22, 2016 Author Posted August 22, 2016 The Topic is Balikbayan Privilege or 13A Permanent VISA. THe financial question was in regards to the "Financial Capacity" requirement for applying for the 13A VISA, not one of the retirement VISAs. Which is the big bold letters at the top of your screen shot. *disclaimer* While I started the topic in all seriousness as I one of the many decisions I have is to convert to Balikbayan or 13A, the "on/off topic" banter is mostly for fun and not at all an argument or ruffled feathers. Back to the financial part of the topic. Does anyone else have experience with the 13A VISA Financial Capacity requirement? It is looking like it is the 13A version of the Balikbayan one year out of the country rule - something that is ignored by officials?

My point is: As the op you asked: "What Visa are you planning to be here on" and so you got discussion about other visas. Better to have too much information than not enough That said, I also missed adding my "moderating hat" to that post. I'll go back and fix that. And now, back to our topic. Can anyone answer our friend and member with his query? 10 minutes ago, AlwaysRt said: Back to the financial part of the topic. I don't know exactly how much the financial requirement is but I have a friend who converted to 13A and he receives $1240 a month Social Security. I would assume that the requirement, if there is one, is under $1,240 a month.
