Exit ticket?

So I found out I need an exit ticket. I don't know exactly when I will be leaving the country (flying there from US on 9/29), so I really don't want to drop major cash on a ticket that I won't use. Do people forge dummies? Or are there cheap places nearby that I can buy a ticket to that I do not intend to use?

Thanks

Even if they did, we would not condone illegal activity on this forum, so lets say they do not forge tickets.  There are large numbers of expats who buy cheap "throw away" tickets that they never plan to use.  Manila to Kota Kinabalu on Air Asia is on of the frequent sales.  But check the Cebu Pacific site for other throw aways.

Some spend more money on the throw away ticket and then get it refunded after entering the country.  One fellow buys an exit ticket just hours before entering the country and as soon as he is through immigration he gets on line and cancels the ticket.

Whatever works for ya

Oh yes, you might not be allowed to board the plane if you don't have one.

Better book Cebu Pacific to? Search the cheapest.

As far as a refund you get 80%. But it doesn't come immediately. In fact the running around I had to do wiped most of it out.

Try to get the ticket with the departure date as far in the future as possible. You never know, you might need a throwaway again or you might actually use the ticket, like for taking a wife out of the country so you can re-enter as Balikbayan.

Is it OK to go out past 30 days? Or does it have to be dated within that window?

Sure, all you need is an exit ticket, it doesn't matter when. I got one 11 months out and I actually used it. i don't know of any airline that will let you go farther out than that although I did hear about a program where if you are a student they will extend past 1 year. I didn't want to try to claim to be a student so I went with 11 months.

"One fellow" here, I use Expedia's refund policy. Bought my onward ticket, went to the airport and checked in no problem. After clearing immigration in Manila, logged onto the airport wifi, clicked the link in the confirmation email and canceled the ticket. The next day my credit card was charged and the following day it was credited back. 100% refund, 0% running around.

Last time I bought a throw away ticket I bought it almost one year ahead.  I used it when I came back from a visit to the US. Then 6 months later I used it again for a quick Hong Kong weekend (to get a Balikbayan stamp).

The only problem with the exit ticket is the boarding airline is who checks for it - and some of the ticket counters don't understand the law. I was told one time that I had to have a round trip ticket. I stayed polite, but insistent that I only needed an exit ticket. Finally a supervisor came over and told the clerk I was right...

In 2012 I had a big problem at Malaga in Spain, Ryan Air would not let me Board for Madrid because of this issue I said but it is a Forward Ticket, I do not have to have a Round trip Luckily it was Friday and because of the time Difference the Immigration was Open in Manila, ( although I gave the Airport immigration telephone number but No, they had to do it their way So now at least Malaga have the Details of this but what a PITA all the time. seems we really do need some retraining of Staff and maybe rewriting of a few Rule Books.
