If you have noticed, there are bakeries everywhere. Sometimes 2 on the same block. Large bakeries in the malls. So, the people do like bread and pastry.

So, I wonder why they do not serve nor offer bread in restaurants.  I would love  pan de sal with my food or even a sweet roll of some kind.

Just another something I have gotten used to.

I know, I know, rice is their bread so I guess there is no demand for bread.

That's what I implied but still no bread in restaurants.

Oh well, I don't eat out that often, anyway.:whistling:

I have wondered about all the bakeries. I see them everywhere yet almost never see anyone serving bread?  We stop in them for merienda sometimes, but does not seem like it would be enough business to support them.

I think it's like a lot of things here. They mimic what they see or might hear about but no real interest in deep research on most things. So they know french fries go with a burger but usually no idea about onions, pickles, and mustard on the burger. Also no clue about onion rings. My guess is it's the same with bread or dinner rolls served with a meal. Also, they would probably look at it as an added expense they would have to charge for or take a loss on.

We probably could if the bread was of good quality and not this junk made with low grade flour and tons of sugar in it.

A top draw are the restaurants serving "bottomless" or unlimited rice with a meal.

My wife laughed when I told her that in the US many restaurants offer unlimited Coke.  Of course I had just laughed at the unli rice!  :tiphat:

Well Tim, I'm sure that Filipinos' would not be impressed with the unlimited coke--less room for rice!
