ITGeek Posted October 26, 2016 Posted October 26, 2016 Hello, Thankfully, we made it through Typhoon's Karen and Lewin last week with little to no problems. Had brownout most of the day during Karen, but internet low power appliances (internet router and chargers) still worked. No power problems during Lewin which tracked further north than Karen. The eye of Karen tracked only about 40-50km north of our home here in Cabanatuan, Nueva Ecija. Now onto the more difficult problem. Trying to figure out why the USEM sent a map with BI's Intramuros location along with my 5 mo son's CRBA certificate. They didn't give any instructions, just the CRBA certificate, original BC along with the map. Not sure what I'm supposed to do. I'm also still awaiting his US passport, not sure how long that will take for processing, it was submitted same time as CRBA back on Sept 9th. We are not immigrating to the US, I withdrew the I-130 so that the USEM no longer has any excuse to deny my wife and step-daughter's tourist visa for a 3rd time. The only thing I know to do next is contact the SSA office at the USEM to submit SS-5 form for my 5 mo son's SSN. Anyone been through this process that can tell me what I'm supposed to do? Thanks! OnMyWay Posted October 26, 2016 Posted October 26, 2016 I can't think of a reason why they would send a map to BI, so I would suspect it is a mistake. Send them an e-mail and they will get back to you. The passport comes from the U.S. and I think it usually takes ~2 months. I think my daughter's was a bit less. Looks like I will have to make the Manila trip for my younger daughter's CRBA and passport. We didn't have the NSO BC in time for the September outreach here in Subic, and we are planning a trip to the U.S. next May, so I need to get it done. Did you already get the Philippine passport for you son? We just did that Monday at Pampanga DFA (Robinson's mall) and it is a breeze for babies. Under 1 year does not need an appointment and the staff was great with my wife and baby. I could not go inside because I wore shorts, so I got to hang out in the Game Zone with my older daughter. I think it took a total of an hour or a bit less, and 20-30 minutes was waiting at the LBC queue.

Someone mentioned he would require an exit visa from the BI office a couple of weeks before leaving the country. I'm still on tourist visa status, haven't acquired 13a resident status yet. Thanks for the info on getting Philippines passport for my son. We will definitely stop there next time we travel to Pampanga and do that - Edited October 26, 2016 by ITGeek

Then enter/exit U.S. on U.S. passport. Then re-enter PH on the PH passport. You are the one who needs an ECC if you have been here over 6 months. You can get it at any BI, I believe. Also, I just read this and it says if you are returning to PH you can get it at the airport. I never heard that discussed here on the forum. http://immigration.gov.ph/109-april2015-pr/772-foreign-nationals-should-secure-ecc-before-leaving-bi
chris49 Posted October 26, 2016 Posted October 26, 2016 (edited) Whoa. Hold up for a minute. 1. Your son has a US Passport. His SS Number will be sent by mail automatically. Give it 1-2 months. It is not important now unless you are over 62 receiving benefits. Then you need it to file for his benefits. 2. Did your wife get her visa? Per your previous thread are you taking them to the USA? Where's your nearest BI office? To be absolutely sure you are not missing anything you could call them or email them. Or go there. 3. The exit visa thing. As I know it applies to someone who was born in the Phils and is returning to the US or his US Passport. Since there's no entry to the Phils I think they need the stamp in the passport before they go out. With a Philippines Passport this is negated. 4. I think so. 5. The passport should be ready. Have you called or emailed the Embassy? When my son's was ready I had to call them. I had pre paid Air Express so only then they sent it. OnMyWay Posted October 26, 2016 Posted October 26, 2016 Chris, not sure I understand your numbering here. Anyway, I may have misstated something so I will clarify and also comment. See in red. 2 hours ago, chris49 said: Whoa. Hold up for a minute. 1. Your son has a US Passport. Not yet. He is waiting. I think I mistakenly was thinking of the time to get the SS number when I said 2 months to get the passport. Maybe it is only a few weeks. I might have a post on my daughter's time. His SS Number will be sent by mail automatically. Are you sure? I think he is indicating he did not file the form with SS. I don't think it is automatic but maybe I am wrong. Give it 1-2 months. It is not important now unless you are over 62 receiving benefits. Then you need it to file for his benefits. No, maybe not true. I'm sure he needs the SS number to claim his son as a dependent on his income tax, no matter if he is 62 or not. 2. Did your wife get her visa? chris49 Posted October 26, 2016 Posted October 26, 2016 (edited) I said the SS number is not urgent. Taxes are filed next year. My 2 kids had their SS card mailed to them 1-2 months after the passport was received. I did not apply for anything. What else? IT Greek is waiting on his wife's visa appointment. And it had been refused once. So I assume that is his priority right now. Along with having the child's passport in hand. However. Sorry I forgot that I approached the SS window at the embassy and the lady took a photocopy of the birth records. She asked me to notify her when the passport was issued so I did that. So perhaps that was a factor and maybe it's not "automatic". Edited October 26, 2016 by chris49

I had to submit both original documents along with my own US Passport and the SS-5 form (Application for Social Security Card). The SSA @ USEM told me they will send me back original docs via Air21 while SS-5 form is sent to US SSA for processing and SS Card will be mailed to address on the form from US SSA. I sent it not only for 2016 tax return (not due for 5-6 mo's), but also for SSDI benefits. As part of my Long Term Disability (LTD) benefits, my former employer paid for services with a company called Allsup, which is representing me for SSDI. It's currently in appeals phase, which will take anywhere from 12-24 mo's before going to hearing. In the meantime, I'm also having to appeal to my LTD insurance under "any occupation", I was previously approved for "own occupation". This despite all my healthcare providers, including Primary Care Physician signing off that I am 100% permanently disabled. BTW - The LTD insurance pays 65% (taxable) of my previous salary until SSDI kicks in, then they pay difference between SSDI benefits (not taxed) and 65% salary. So if SSDI pays $1,500/mo that's not taxed, but the $2,500/mo my LTD insurance pays on top of that is taxed. 2. Did your wife get her visa? Per your previous thread are you taking them to the USA? Where's your nearest BI office? To be absolutely sure you are not missing anything you could call them or email them. Or go there.I withdrew the I-130 immigrant application for my wife and step-daughter (losing $920 filing fee) after they were denied tourist visas the 1st attempt (understandable with active I-130 in system). However, they were denied tourist visas again after the I-130 was withdrawn, wasting another $320. We have no plans to live in US, I had hoped my Uncle who was terminally ill could've met my family before he passed away a couple of weeks ago. The USEM really sucks, I wrote an email US Sec State Kerry "thanking him" for supporting illegal immigrants and 'refujihadi's' while punishing those who follow the law. I forwarded the email to President-elect Trump letting him know how my uncle never got the chance to meet my family in person. I can only pray the new administration will help my family meet my Dad, who is 86 yo (Korean and Vietnam war veteran) before he passes away too. Unfortunately, like my recently deceased Uncle, he is also unable to travel here due to health reasons. Sorry for the rant, but it really angers me to think about the cost of all the fees I've paid to be screwed by my own government. 3. The exit visa thing. OnMyWay Posted November 17, 2016 Posted November 17, 2016 I can empathize with you. That sucks. I hope my 12 yo step-daughter's tourist visa will go through ok. We have an appointment January 31. She has some things going for her so I hope it will not be an issue. Her mom already has a visa and has been to the U.S. twice, in addition to other NZ and SG. The 12 year old has been to NZ and SG as well, and has the NZ visa in her passport. Her two younger half sisters are both PH / US dual citizens and her step-dad, me, is a U.S. citizen. I will have a ton of backup information with us. I hope that they my let me into the interview as I am listed as her father on the visa application, and we will have two rugrats with us. I have an ace in the hole in that my bro-in-law in Los Angeles is an immigration attorney, and he pointed me to the law that says that a step-dad can be listed as father for a non-immigrant visa. Did you adopt your 12 yo step-daughter? As with when I attempted to file ITIN for my step-daughter it was denied unless she is adopted by me. She only has her mother listed on her NSO BC, no father so I have no problems with adoption except cost of the fees. When you mention visa application, are you talking about CR-1/IR-1 (immigrant) or B-1/B-2 (tourist) visa? If the latter, then unless you've adopted the step daughter, I don't believe they'll let you attend the tourist visa interview, only the mother. I did see where Sec State Kerry recently appointed an interim ambassador to USEM, I believe his last name is Park (most likely Korean). Not sure what happens after Jan 20th and new Sec State takes over as far as most ambassadors will likely change with new admin. I read somewhere that Trump should appoint Kerry ambassador to Antartica and Obama ambassador to North Korea
