TheMason Posted September 23, 2009 Posted September 23, 2009 I don't think this is that big of a deal. Extradition treaties are pretty routine. All it means is people convicted of a crime or fleeing justice can now be sent back to the UK to complete their proceedings or sentences. It also sounds like the UK also has a law prosecuting its subjects for sex crimes committed outside their territory but I think thats a separate issue from the extradition treaty. I also disagree with prosecuting people in the UK, US, and elsewhere for crimes committed outside their territory. Crimes should be prosecuted in the locality in which they occur. If the Philippines or other countries can't afford to police, prosecute, and jail foreign criminals then they should reconsider their easy entry immigration policies so they can deter the undesirables from entering the country. A crackdown on the activities that draw the undesirables would also be helpful.
