Only problem with Linux is that the productivity software available for it is still light years away from being on par with Microsoft stuff. Libre Office and Open Office still can't hold a candle to MSFT Office, especially in regards to Excel and Access. And, if you need advanced coding/programming features in an Office suite, Linux alternatives really suck. The BASIC IDE in Libre and Open Office just doesn't come close to the MSFT Office Visual Basic Editor for power and ease of use. If you need to just write letters and do simple spreadsheets, though, Mint is a great choice. That being said, if set up and configured properly, Windows 10 is awesome and can be very secure. Out of the box, however (and the way most users use Windows 10,) not so much.

StayAtHomeDad Posted September 5, 2018 Posted September 5, 2018 Oh, almost forgot. Even with the "High Performance" settings, Windows 10 will throttle CPU usage for many applications when the laptop is not charging (on battery power.) You can disable Power Throttling settings to get around this. Browsers are one of the application types frequently throttled by Windows 10. You can disable Power Throttling in the Windows Group Policy Editor. I don't know if it's allowed to post a link to a tutorial or anything. So, just Google "how to disable power throttling using group policy editor." Hope this helps.
