Tukaram (Tim) Posted January 1, 2017 Posted January 1, 2017 A- is not a very rare type in the West, but here they call it a "foreigner blood type". It seems that only foreigners, and Filipinos with foreigner parentage have it. I am A- and will contact them. Last time I donated for an expat in Cebu I donated at the Iloilo Red Cross and the guy almost died waiting for the blood. Took the Red Cross 3 or 4 days to figure out how to get the blood to Cebu. Crazy, but welcome to the Philippines.
Tukaram (Tim) Posted January 3, 2017 Posted January 3, 2017 Anybody know these people in person? I contacted him the night I saw this and he acted very excited to find a donor...then yesterday no contact. I texted him to ask if he still needed blood and got no reply... seems odd... hope she is ok.

In my experience with dengue (3X), 7,000 platelet count 2 days ago is very critical. Either she already got a donor transfusion or she doesn't need it anymore. Could be a lot of things but in my eyes we can not ignore requests for help and also there is a direct number to the hospital assuming it is correct. What more can we do ?
