Dave Hounddriver Posted January 9, 2017 Posted January 9, 2017 A friend of a friend asked "Y" for some info as people seem to realize she is pretty smart. So she asks me because she thinks I am pretty smart . . and I ask you folks because I KNOW you guys are smart. So this filipina has a Norwegian bf who has asked her to get a visa and some travel insurance and come visit him in Norway. He says he will pay but expects her to 'take care of all that'. I know . . Idiot. But thats why the questions all come back to us on this forum. She says she needs 30K Euros travel insurance to get the visa. Maybe, maybe not but her question is: Where is a reliable agency to get travel insurance that will actually pay out if she lands in hospital in Norway for some reason or another? Anyone?

Norway is not a Member of the EU or of the EEA and their rules are much the same as Australia. It does not surprise me that they Ask 32.000 Euro Travel Insurance Cover, maybe you will remember Andrew (methersgate) who had to Pay up front for hospital care of his G/F and her son Norway is a peculiar Country with some strange laws but that is not the Question is it? Why cannot the Man Purchase this Insurance from Norway where it is more Likely to be Paid out? I doubt anyone here on the Forum could offer the answer to the question because maybe it has never happened, I have always Paid for my Insurances in the UK where there is a Government Fund for Insurance companies failing to pay.

My wife was covered for 30 days with Pacific (Blue) Cross then I bought the additional 5 months while we were in Canada. Canada (Ontario at least) will admit a foreigner with no insurance in a hospital emergency then they will go after the victim or sponsor for payments.

I said that as the obtaining a visa for an Unmarried Filipina to go to Norway looks as Hard as it was for Canada and was just saying so Dave could pass on the Information to "Y"'s friend Sorry G & G's jack Strikes again the wrong note

From memory that is pretty well a standard requirement for a visa to any of the countries included in the Schengen Agreement (which Norway is). When a Filipina friend visited Paris in 2012 she paid a premium of CNY 400 (around USD65 at that time) for a month's cover from an insurance company here in Beijing. An earlier post mentioned Pacific Blue Cross: what is their reputation in the Philippines? I recall forum member Sander Martin posting on this topic some time ago when he was taking his fiancee to Estonia. They applied for her visa through the Norwegian Embassy in Manila, might be worth looking through his posts.... Dave Hounddriver Posted January 9, 2017 Author Posted January 9, 2017 OK I passed the info along. Thanks all. The BPI coverage looks pretty decent for a filipina traveling to Norway and the info about how to apply is brilliant. I am not real confident of her chances but I have conveyed pure optimism as there is no point in her applying if she already believes she will be turned down.
