Oh dear sad to hear but We get a few tales of Woe from time to time. I had a word with the British Embassy Warden not long ago here in Dumaguete who gets these issues on a fairly Regular Basis & whilst the Situation is bad, as seems there are to his mind, some information missing and would be required. Firstly they would need to know why the Wife has only Contacted you now when the Stroke occurred 2 years ago as you say. Secondly, they will ask what is your cousins Status here? They will also ask why you can not help as you are in and out of the the Area so to speak every year as in Thailand and are family, This is because before the UK Embassy will do anything, they will make all attempts for Family help. You say you would not rather speak of things concerning Insurances but if They are willing (IF) they need to know Everything not what suits one or another. As he is a Foreigner, I would doubt there is a Philippine Charity that could or be able to help ( Goodness they got enough of causes to attend to with there own) Hence the need to know his Status here. Please don't get me wrong here but this situation is part of the Reason so many are not allowed in as we can see from a latest issue of those that cannot afford to keep themselves. I do feel for your Cousin and I can honestly say that I personally would not hold out too much Hope of help from the Embassy just now. It can be done and has been Done here on Negros Fairly Recently but it took many Months of hard negotiating by this Warden to secure the Transit. You need and have to be Upfront with all things and the First step is Contact either the Warden for the Area your Cousin is or the Embassy Direct https://www.gov.uk/government/world/organisations/british-embassy-manila Sorry if I sound vague or unhelpful but as family member that has brought this up it sounds as if you are going to be a main Player especially as you go to the UK every year. I hope David is not suffering to much but can you send cash for medication? That is I would have thought a Priority just now Two Months supply I guess would be about 6.000 peso ( 100 pounds) [ Depending on what is required] Regarding where he is, a Hospital visit to see a Doctor will be about say 600 Peso. I hope you can get things in perspective Jack Edited January 28, 2017 by Jack Peterson
jammyboy Posted January 29, 2017 Author Posted January 29, 2017 Firstly thanks very much for your reply and your concern, I will try to answer some of the points you raised. I only found out is real problem this week through skype through his wife , and only by text not talking he cannot talk, he has underlying health problems being hiv positive, so not allowed insurance, he is married as far as I know and as two children, she sent me a photo and he looks 20 years older than his age I have changed the name because of his status, I think he is near clark in the phillipines, he has family in uk but I cannot contact them , and I doubt they would help which saddens me they have not got on for years. In this uncaring world money is the problem here she...is wife...told me they had nothing, I recently helped a phillipino girl who needs a liver transplant in the Philippines through gofundme my friend in Bangkok a photo journalist for habitat started the fund which is still ongoing , so I know a little about helping your own first. I am in the dark about most of what is happening to david , but I do know it is his right side affected, if he could get back to the uk on a normal flight I could help him financially , if it was a medivac I couldn't, I am not rich by any means, but I am very concerned for his welfare as he is family, I will try to get more details from his wife, but seeing her online is sporadic he cannot use the computer she is his eyes and ears, she did say she had been to the embassy, the problem she sees is who would look after him if he did get back to the uk. Many thanks....jim.
