Popular Post Dave Hounddriver Posted February 7, 2017 Popular Post Posted February 7, 2017 I think it has been mentioned before but I just want to confirm that the 6 month tourist visa is definitely available at the Dumaguete BI office. I just got it today. My Tourist ACR card had not yet expired but because it was due to expire within the next 6 months I was required to get and pay for a new ACR card along with the 6 month Visa. My date of last entry was 59 days ago which may or may not be a requirement for the 6 month visa but it definitely worked for me. It was not cheap. The entire amount for 6 month visa plus renewal of tourist ACR card was 13,410 pesos as of this morning. I did not calculate the cost of going in to do it every 2 months so I do not know if that would work out cheaper. I do know I am taking a risk in that if I have a family emergency in Canada and have to leave the country before the 6 months is up that I forfeit the remaining time on the visa. The clerk confirmed that. So barring any emergency reasons to leave the country I am happy that I am still a perpetual tourist and I am legal for the next 6 months.

Did your new ACR card go for one year from the date of expiry or did it go for one year from today?

I will let you know when I actually get the card (takes a while) but I'm willing to bet its from today.

bows00 Posted February 7, 2017 Posted February 7, 2017 So how you obtain the tourist ACR card? You need one of these to open a bank account right?

Last time I came in on the waiver and extended for 2 months at 30 days and my second extension is where the work and $$$ for the ACR card happens. A mere 6 months later it was ready. I think they were out of the plastic or something so YMMV. I was able to get a bank account without the card at PNB in Dumaguete and once again YMMV.
