I just got it today. My Tourist ACR card had not yet expired but because it was due to expire within the next 6 months I was required to get and pay for a new ACR card along with the 6 month Visa. My date of last entry was 59 days ago which may or may not be a requirement for the 6 month visa but it definitely worked for me. It was not cheap. The entire amount for 6 month visa plus renewal of tourist ACR card was 13,410 pesos as of this morning. I did not calculate the cost of going in to do it every 2 months so I do not know if that would work out cheaper. I do know I am taking a risk in that if I have a family emergency in Canada and have to leave the country before the 6 months is up that I forfeit the remaining time on the visa. The clerk confirmed that. So barring any emergency reasons to leave the country I am happy that I am still a perpetual tourist and I am legal for the next 6 months. I think if you never had to have a new card it would be just about the same cost as renewing every 2 months.

There's More! Two interesting things happened today. I went back to BI to pick up my passport, its normal for them to hang onto it for 24 hours processing here in Dumaguete. The amount was LESS than originally quoted and they gave me change back. Someone must have miscalculated as the entire amount on the official receipt was only 12,646.50! ! ! And that included 2486.50 for the ACR card which will come if I "just wait a while" but the point is its paid for so my next 6 month renewal should run right around 10,200 as I won't need another ACR renewal. (Just for interest's sake, 3,000 pesos of the total fee was "Express Lane Fees") The second interesting thing I mentioned is that they forced some young (30ish?) foreigner to leave for the second day in a row as the girl politely told him: "I informed you yesterday that we will not serve you when you wear a sleeveless shirt. You must try again tomorrow with a proper shirt". So they are not so strict on the guys in shorts and sandals but sleeveless shirts are a definite NO NO.

The new dress code has been out since 2013 so no excuse from the guy in sleeveless shirts. Why he tried a second time who knows but how hard is it to follow the simple rules.
