We'll see but I'm skeptical. Otherwise if anybody knows of a cheaper plan than the Pacific Cross and I love high deductibles but it must cover pre existing conditions since I have TYPE II and kidney issues or so my blood work suggests. I guess something for worst case scenario. Maybe even at 18,000 a yr PhilHealth maybe the best option for the money. If Pacific, how far does $250K go here in the Phils ? I know it doesn't go very far in the US. I visit there about 10 weeks a yr and recently decided I better have some coverage, a little over $5 a day with a high deductible ($10k I think) and 1 mil coverage including pre existing conditions. Many doctors visits are about $10 USD. You do the math.

Catastrophic and like I said I have a few issues that could go the wrong way. $48US a yr for a little peace of mind seems cheap although I haven't been thinking that way the last couple of years. OnMyWay Posted September 5, 2017 Posted September 5, 2017 Any updates or actual experiences to report? I kinda have a couple of updates. My wife put me on her Philhealth at the beginning of the year. I had my own before. According to the bulletin, I should not be allowed to be on my wife's plan after the changes were in effect in June. I have to get some specialized eye tests. I contacted the place and the lady asked if I had Philhealth. The tests would be 1200 with Philhealth and 5000 without. I didn't know that Philhealth covered this type of thing. I said I was on my wife's plan and texted her the info. They can access Philhealth systems and she said she would get back to me. A while later she texted back and said the Philhealth should be fine. Unexpected surprises but I will find out for sure when I go there Thursday.
Notright Posted October 2, 2017 Posted October 2, 2017 Yet another way to extract more money from us foreigners. It's outrageous the rate increase but its the government so no one should be surprised...

Not one westerner that has lived in PH is ever surprised Notright, including myself, a simple fact and life when it comes to government and to a lesser degree private enterprise (negotiable) and a very simple fact that one lives or wants to live in PH. with the idiosyncrasies and self brought on frustrations that at times seem alien to our mode of thinking. Hey we are moving to another country by simple choice or economics and it appears I can get great health care for half or less than what I/we pay in Oz. The rate increase from my perspective is minuscule compared to western norms and, based on my experience superior to western norms, try and get a specialist without an appointment, so far from experience better than good, including dentists with us having no Philhealth. Each of course to particular situations and little else. Cheers, Steve.

The one thing we must remember and not often spoken about or mentioned is that Philheath is only good for admitted patients IE you have to be in a Hospital bed for a given period to claim on this

Go up a few posts and I tell how I got a p3800 discount on an specialized eye test because I have Philhealth. Also, I just read the Outpatient section here: https://www.philhealth.gov.ph/benefits/ Quite a few things there including day surgery, which is more common these days. The I bow to you additional knowledge on this But the word Specialized and day surgery mean something further than the Norm

Arthroscopic surgery on common knee injuries is one. In and out same day most of the time. I had mine in the U.S. years ago but I talked to a sports doc here who said it is the same here now.
