So I stagger I mean walk into Mcdonalds. Menu here is a bit confusing to what I might of had seen before but anyway decide on a big Mac. Bit of conversation going on behind the counter. Sir yes but no lettuce?

I thought big chain stores were meant to be consistent no matter where in the world, thats the way franchising works in my view but here it's different. Never mind.

Oh that's getting me started :-)

I walked into McDonald's for breakfast yesterday morning and ordered an Egg McMuffin meal.  "Sorry sir, we have no brewed coffee today"!  So I look at the menu and say "But ALL the meals on the menu come with brewed coffee so if you have no brewed coffee then you have nothing available to sell me.  What is your alternative?"  And she said "We have McCafe available for 50 additional pesos, sir"  Then I said "I don't want to pay 50 additional pesos for brewed coffee with a fancy name, I just want the normal brewed coffee."  Of course she says "Sorry sir, there is no brewed coffee available".  So I thinks . . .  and thinks ..  and I says:

"What if I just get the meal without coffee, can you deduct the price of a cup of coffee?"  And she says "Oh yes sir, I can deduct 20 pesos as no coffee available".  So I says "Fortunately I have been in Philippines a long time so I knew enough to have a nice big cup of home brewed coffee before coming down here for breakfast, so how about if you just give me a free service water with my meal?"

And that worked.  So I got my Egg McMuffin and hashbrown and a small cup of water and saved 20 pesos and had a chuckle as the next foreigner in line went through the same rigmarole until giving up and just paying the "extra 50" for a McCafe because they have no McCoffee today.  Methinks that so long as guys just pay the extra 50 there will be "no coffee today, sir" quite often.
