Jollygoodfellow Posted March 31, 2017 Posted March 31, 2017 Is the Silliman Medical Center a goverment hospital?
Dr. Shiva Posted March 31, 2017 Author Posted March 31, 2017 (edited) Some more Infos: PCSO from Guihulngan City already paid 30k PHP for the provincial hospital in Guihulngan. Pointed them now also to the RedCross if that will work. Are there further possibilities for getting help? Child is still in child ICU of Silliman Edited March 31, 2017 by Dr. Shiva

Silliman is the most advanced and expensive hospital in Dumaguete, for all its faults, and the Provincial hospital, much cheaper if you are on a budget, is just a 5 minute ride up the National Highway. I guess we all want the best care, even if we cannot afford it. Edited March 31, 2017 by Dave Hounddriver

Government run. That's why I asked if the hospital she is in is a goverment or private.
Dr. Shiva Posted April 1, 2017 Author Posted April 1, 2017 Which sort of help can they get there? But I doubt that the public hospital can help in the case of Leukemia.

That is one of the problems of living here. The medical facilities are limited by what the hospital has available and what each person's budget can manage. Is there a particular reason why this case is more deserving of our charity than our family, friends, neighbors, and their loved ones who also come with their hand out on a daily basis? Is it more deserving than the family of a child who I have watched crying in the aisles of a provincial hospital as the child died of pneumonia because the family had no money and the doctors would do nothing without payment but the family is too proud/ashamed to ask strangers to help keep their child alive? It appears to me that you were asked for help and if you wish to be the "good Samaritan" then may God bless you. For me, if I were to be charitable I would follow Matthew 6:3 and "But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth"

Dr. Shiva Posted April 2, 2017 Author Posted April 2, 2017 They are trying this now. Problem is now that the bill is still climbing. They have to pay more than 50 k php just to get the child out of the SUMC. Several donations are incoming, but the bill rises faster.
