Popular Post BrettGC Posted April 24, 2017 Popular Post Posted April 24, 2017 They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old: Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning, We will remember them. Lest We Forget.

Popular Post BrettGC Posted April 25, 2017 Popular Post Posted April 25, 2017 (edited) For me today, mixed emotions more than usual. I actually caught up with the parents of one of my best mates, he was killed in Afghanistan. So much sadness and joy at the same time remembering him. They were like second parents to me when he was alive, it's a special connection we have now. I can't explain it and without belittling our mateship, when he passed, I inherited his dog, and when that big slobber monster, 70kg of de bordeaux passed, I cried again. Ben Roberts-Smith, was awarded the Victoria Cross, the highest military award for bravery in the Commonwealth, for my US comrades you can equate it to the Medal of Honor. This was his speech today. His plea is to give veterans that have that have moved to civilian life a chance. They served, they sacrificed. Give them a chance when they leave the service. There are too many veterans that are alive today that are living fatalities and left behind. What we ask of them compared to what they receive when they leave the service is unconscionable. http://www.abc.net.au/news/2017-04-25/ben-roberts-smith-at-the-shrine-of-remembrance/8469248 Just remember, these men and women served our country voluntarily. No national service, no "white feather" paradigm. Lest we forget. Edited April 25, 2017 by BrettGC
