Queenie O. Posted May 13, 2017 Posted May 13, 2017 Have any of you ever purchased an item from the online company out of Metro Manila called Galleon? They carry items not found in the Philippines coming from the US. They said that if they don't have an item shown. send them a link and they will purchase and ship it out to you when it arrives.( They will send you a quote first before you order it says.) There are so many participating US stores and sites listed. Gee, I'd rather they order for me and handle everything instead of me doing it. Any experience or analysis from anyone about this site would really be appreciated. Thanks, Queenie

Reboot Posted May 13, 2017 Posted May 13, 2017 (edited) Well I have something to say about galleon. Last time, the galleon never arrived. I waited MONTHS and lost a FORTUNE! No, it couldn't be blamed on either typhoon or hurricane. Not even on shipworm. But all those Chinese valuables I traded perfectly good pieces of eight for are now bound for a British port to rest in the hands of thieves. It looked good for a while. The shipment made it to Acapulco from Manila just fine, and the overland to Veracruz went great. But damned British pirates took the boat on the way to Havana. You'd think they'd travel the Spanish Main accompanied by heavily armed escort. My advice, never use the galleons. And shoot British pirates on sight. Gratefuled Posted May 13, 2017 Posted May 13, 2017 The only website that I ever used was Amazon. That was back in the states and it was for out of print books. I do not want to be disappointed by receiving something that doesn't work, doesn't fit, to not as advertised. I'm just that way. I know there are many who use catalogs to buy things and are satisfied.

Forum Support Mike J Posted May 13, 2017 Forum Support Posted May 13, 2017 (edited) I was looking for an item (Miller Dowel System for wood working) via Amazon several months back and found they did not ship to the Philippine. I stumbled onto Galleon, or perhaps they stumbled onto me via cookies. In any case, the item(s) that I wanted were priced approximately three or four times the cost in the USA. I chose not to buy them at that price so I cannot say what level of service they would provide, but the price will be expensive. I would suggest you try Amazon and see how they price out after shipping and import fees and compare that with Galleon. I have purchased a number of items via Amazon and had them shipped here with no problems. If you choose to do choose to use Galleon, let us know your experience. Also you may want to read their "Terms and Condition Page" from their website. Not sure if it is allowable to post that link here, but it easy to find via google. It appears Galleon is strictly a "drop ship" company. It seems they will act "middle man" but little if any at all guarantee(s) of any kind as to quality, accurate description of goods, arrival condition, or even the delivery of the item after they get your money. robert k Posted May 13, 2017 Posted May 13, 2017 I wonder if it's the same Galleon that also has stores? I bought a phone for someone from Galleon in one of their stores and used to buy load there all the time.
Tukaram (Tim) Posted May 13, 2017 Posted May 13, 2017 (edited) Never heard of them. Will see what I can find. It sounds interesting. The only site I ordered from here so far has been Lazada. I may give these guys a shot and see if they are good. Scotch tape is p250 a roll on Lazada, it is p780 for a six pack on Galleon. (some things are still better in a BB box) ~Edit~ Wow, they even stock Aqua Velva! ...at p900 a bottle... but they have it. Hi Mike--I thought that it had something to do with drop shipping, and I know that other shippers do only that. The thing about Amazon is that not all shippers from Amazon will ship particular items to the Philippines. I guess I could order these items myself from ebay or another place, but I'd sure rather a company like this one do the ordering and shipping for me. For example as an American woman 5'9, I'm frustrated to say that I have not found a new pair of sandals in my size since I've lived here! (I still have many that I brought with me.) If the prices weren't super outrageous, I think I'd bite the bullet and go through them. Tim see what you think too. It does sound almost too good to be true, but the sellers and thought that you could get specific items seem enticing.
robert k Posted May 13, 2017 Posted May 13, 2017 (edited) Queeny, I have heard of services that will forward your purchases from the US in a BB box for a fee. I have never used them and the name escapes me tight now but they have been mentioned on the forum before and I seem to recall it was favorably. If I recall correctly, one was called George or had George in the name. You order a load of stuff from Amazon-Walmart-ebay or wherever and they receive it and pack it in a box and forward it. [edit] I made a search and I can'r find anything of the sort now. Edited May 13, 2017 by robert k
