Popular Post Gary D Posted May 17, 2017 Popular Post Posted May 17, 2017 Why do you think banks, Jollybee, McDo etc have security guards outside, it's not for the protection of the customers it's to stop the locals stealing the door handles.

When I moved last time I left a few broken items for the trash man, thinking he may want them for the scrap metal value. Nope, stolen by others long before the trash man got there. I put out a broken pair of sandals and a broken weathered 2 by 3 ft piece of plywood and they was gone before the garbage truck came. My MIL has lost a pair of ear rings and a necklace, both gold, but we don't know if she really lost them, misplaced them or if someone conned them from her.
Gary D Posted May 17, 2017 Posted May 17, 2017 We had an old plastic washing bowl stolen from the walled front garden when it was accidentally left out over night. I also had a razor go missing when we had guests overnight.

I'm sure most of us all have some ugly stories. After some lessons learned hard our first year, it's been zero tolerance on "borrowing without first asking", outright theft and dishonesty, since. I never imagined that we'd have to blacklist a few "friends" and even family members, some immediate, with our subdivision security gatehouse. It was definitely a downer to the good life we love and enjoy here, but hey, bad actions have consequences, and I'll be damned if I'm going to live like a security guard inside a Ft. Knox. Yep, tough love, set crystal clear expectations from the get-go, choose your friends wisely, etc., there's a ton of good advice on this forum. Some might sound insensitive and selfish on the surface, but at least consider it all, nonetheless. Trust is hard earned, works for me, YRMV.
