Funny how the first Tagalog words I learned were Mahal Kita and the next was Halika na sa kama.  After that there was no further need to learn Tagalog

Having a hearing problem and trying to learn words in a new language, man, they just don't go together at all. But I got one of those Tagalog-English dictionaries from National Bookstore and also found a beginning Tagalog booklet for little kids.

I'm pathetic, though. I understand the vowels and where to put the accent because I used to have a great interest in Hawaii. The principles are very alike. I could pronounce most Hawaiian words at a glance even though many of their words sound like tongue twisters you try to repeat ten times. But for some reason, Tagalog confuses me.

Humuhumunukunukuapuawa'a? I can say that! Magandang hapon? I almost always wind up saying "Good Japanese"!

I am a native Tagalog speaker and I think that there are lots of Tagalog learning apps in Google Playstore and Appstore which can help you learn the languange. Better to download those with audio recorded by native speakers.
