No, but they are all using whitening soap and whitening lotion thinking they can be a white lady..... oops, I got side tracked again didn't I? Popular Post Cebu expat Posted October 30, 2017 Popular Post Posted October 30, 2017 (edited) My favorite place in the Philippines is Bantayan Island, north of Cebu Main island, 4 hours by bus from Cebu City to Hagnaya Port and a bit more than one hour by boat to Santa Fe. Lived 7 months there, amazing place. the almost deserted beaches, transparent clean waters(like the cook Islands in the south Pacific) and relaxed atmosphere are the main attraction. also if you love shells this is the place to be. There is also an expat community so you will find bars and restaurants but saying it's touristy would be a wrong statement. Santa Fe has the most beautiful beaches with Kota Beach in April May (and also other months) and Budyong beach and sugar beach being the best. avoid the three days of easter holidays. the island becomes packed to the "unbelievable, beach becomes dirty and you will find zero places to sleep....lol. . sometimes during the day or after a rain or an occasional low pressure or typhoon water can become temporarily muddy but it usually lasts a few hours. the amazing beauty comes back pretty quick. Bantayan is for lazy people lol but in the good sense . Edited October 30, 2017 by Cebu expat 5

I have not been back there since Typhoon Frank in 2008 because I heard there were so many beaches destroyed. Good to hear nature has recovered her beauty and I will put Bantayan back on my list of place to visit (but not in Typhoon season )

Good to hear nature has recovered her beauty and I will put Bantayan back on my list of place to visit (but not in Typhoon season ) Actually super typhoon Yolanda (hayan) in november 2013 did even worse destroying a lot of houses (some say 90% of them) and taking away many coconut trees. I think it also killed a few locals unfortunately. The red cross helped to rebuild and it s still present. Bantayan was in the eye of the huge storm on Yolanda's typhoon path. Even so the place recovered. Only notable thing to the eye is some abandoned destroyed building and less coconut trees if you compare it with old photos. Island is more barren but having been the first time in 2016 this didn't catch my attention Edited October 31, 2017 by Cebu expat 1

We were only allowed to go as high as the shoulder, not sure now. The ride around the mountain is really fantastic offering outstanding views. Legaspi is a wonderful friendly city.

BrettGC Posted November 6, 2017 Posted November 6, 2017 Well SAO and I are currently at White Villas Resort in San Juan, Siquijor. Amazing place and reasonably priced. The relax factor is is at maximum. Small resort with a beach and no annoying vendors, great staff and nice bungalow style rooms. Highly recommended for that weekend getaway despite the bone rattling 30 min trike ride from Larena port after the 30 min Ocean Jet cruise.
