I know I do That's a wife, her mother who was only staying until the helper she brought settled in, and her sister who replaced the helper who ran off to join the circus after two years of being treated horribly like family. At various times, I have up to seven Filipinas here. On those occasions, I wouldn't mind being murdered by strangers.

He was in restraints and crying and being escorted into the paddy wagon (Are the ( some nationality ) here OK with referring to it as a paddy wagon?) Anyway, we were not sure of his crime but Lynne said he looked to be about 14 years old and it was her opinion that the police would be taking him to the DSWD. < Yes its a link that you can click on if you want to know what is DSWD Yet another experience my ex wife had. I tried to drill into her that even though she's in the house she must always lock the door. I received a call from her explaining that she had just came out of the shower and had heard her rear door slamming. She looked out of the upstairs window and saw the 11 yr old female neighbour jumping over her fence to go back into her own garden. Straight away I told her that I'd put money on it that she'd left her door open and the neighbour had been in her house. She went downstairs to look around and assured me nothing was taken but the keys to the house were in the back door. I knew her parents weren't in as the husband was away with the forces and his wife was a nurse working during the day. I told my wife to put a letter in her letter box saying " you've got one hour to return it or I'll call the police!" My wife was adamant nothing was missing but did it anyway. Sure enough withing 30 mins a letter came through her letterbox with £40 in it and a note pleading not to tell her parents. I phoned the police knowing the girl was too young to charge but I wanted her frightened. The police came and interviewed my wife and phoned me to see if I was prepared to let it go. They asked me three times and I told them I wanted their parents involved. At the third time the police man thanked me and told me she had been caught previously but the victims never wanted her parents involved. She never got charged but you can bet she never sat down for a while.

She is lacking supervision, I assume that she was not left at home alone. Edited August 6, 2017 by jpbago
virginprune Posted August 6, 2017 Posted August 6, 2017 We have a 12' Bagakay fence on a hollow block foundation, cost P30,000 all in, and two large dogs. So far that has worked for us, that and building a good relationship with all our nearest locals. We don't have a vehicle of any type so we are always seen walking or in tricycles if returning home with shopping, no obvious displays of wealth there! We give all our recycling to the local poor kids so they get a few peso's which fosters goodwill as opposed to resentment. If people wish to break in by climbing over they have to be very careful not to get a cut from the bamboo, it hurts and usually entails a hospital visit. Then they have the dogs to contend with. Both of us sleep easy here but not sure if I would if I felt the need for some of the security measures that some have extolled on here. And I'm the one that lives in ' bandit country ' allegedly.

Edit: Let me add that the reason for my comment is not simply to troll your post. We individuals need to be constantly reminded that just because nothing bad happened last year is no guarantee that the future will be the same way. All of the security measures mentioned in this thread are useless AFTER something bad has happened. RBM Posted August 6, 2017 Posted August 6, 2017 Lots of info here. Personally have no wish to live behind 2 meter walls and barbed wire. What we did was to erect a simple attractive see through upright railing fence. Planted bougainvilleas side by side to offer some form of preventive entry plus pleasing on the eyes. We have a rottweiler who scares the heck out of the locals, of course can be poisoned however takes care of the majority of opportunist thieves. next we have placed in obvious places some dummy cameras around the house. if people really are determined to brake in its kinda hard to stop them but why make it easy. lastly the house is never unattended.

Snowy79 Posted August 6, 2017 Author Posted August 6, 2017 As a bit of reverse security the time I caught the burglar with the booby trapped oil I'd returned from replacing locks on a customers doors. Some vermin had thrown a plant pot through his glass patio doors and just walked in through the smashed patio glass. I was reversing into my drive when I noticed my car door and garage door wide open. I deliberately left both unlocked as nothing of value was in either. I always left my car doors unlocked and the glove box open to show there was nothing inside. The garage again I always left unlocked as I kept nothing in it. When the police turned up they tried to teach me all about security and told me off for not locking the car and garage. I pointed to the sign on the side of my van which said "Locksmith" I informed him that I daily attend to cars and garages that people have broken into to steal things. In almost all cases damage has been caused whether by bending the doors back. Using screwdrivers on the locks etc. In my case there was no damage and nothing stolen. They'd just opened the doors, saw nothing so tried my house. The one door that was locked they'd kicked open and somehow walked into a container of engine oil which had covered them in oil and by following the trail they'd found the guy about 500m away staggering about as he couldn't see where he was going. Almost all security has it's weakness so as has been highlighted don't flash your wealth and get on with your neighbours. They'll know long before you who the bad ones are in the area and may tip you off if they see them around. If I was desperate and wanted to make the most in one robbery I'd scout an area looking for someone with large walls, broken glass and cctv. I'd wait until they opened the gates either to go in or out and with an accomplice introduce them to my gun or baseball bat. It would be just a case of closing the gates behind you and take as long as you want to fill their car with anything you want and simply drive away out of sight of the neighbours. There was a program in the UK called Beat the Burglar. They had an ex burglar go around peoples properties showing how easy it was to break into them. The victims had agreed to let the burglar break in if he could and they were outside in a van that had monitors linked to hidden cameras in the victims houses. In one episode the burglar used a ladder that was left in the garden to enter an upstairs bedroom. He then went around the house taking what he wanted and laying it inside a mattress cover. He found the spare keys to the house and also the owners car which was inside his garage. He brazenly went into the garage and loaded his car with what he had stolen and he noticed a set of golf clubs. He took one of them and went into the rear garden and was practicing his golf swing as a neighbour was cutting his grass. The neighbour even complimented him on his swing. He then went back to the car, opened the garage and drove away with a 50 inch plasma TV hanging out of the back. He then had to face the victims and explain what he did and why. The wife was screaming at him and giving him abuse as some of the things they thought he'd taken were worthless. A cheap ring, wedding photos etc. He said he knew they were worth nothing to anyone else but he knew they were sentimental value to her and as such he would get money out of her for them back. He'd taken a phone bill so had her number and he would explain that he would have phoned her and told her unless she hands over lots of money he would destroy the items, in almost all cases his previous victims had paid up. It's always a good idea to get one of your friends to have a walk around your property to highlight weaknesses. I know the chances of anything happening are few and far between but having seen the consequences at first hand all I'll say is peoples lives can be ruined by one robbery. People who thought it wasn't an issue previously have had their lives completely turned inside out. A good friend of mines daughter was beaten up by a burglar and almost left for dead. She was in the house and had left the front door open. The guy on drugs had just walked in.
