For example, people who bought a multicab 10 years ago for 140K pesos think they can give it a paint washover and still get 140K for it. And ya know what? They actually can and do, if the multicab is still in good shape. It makes sense for a utility vehicle like that. Parts widely available including engines, easy and cheap to work on. Prices of new ones going up.

I think I saw the first one over a year ago and they keep revising them as the proposals change. This one seems fairly up to date. Note that on the last chart, there is a mis-leading column header. Where it says "Current Vehicle Tax" it really should say "Current Vehicle Price".

Well said Dave and many instances relate but lessor known brands, plenty such as Peugeot 508 allure or GT sell for half the new price after 1 or 2 years. Cheers, Steve. There is certainly no moss growing on one of the commentors as he noted that if the tax is based on MSRP that already includes tax, you would be paying tax on the tax you pay?
Clermont Posted August 5, 2017 Posted August 5, 2017 Australia got rid of its car manufacturers, no more subsidise manufacturing, got rid of import taxes to make cars cheaper, result: cars 10% dearer. Who said PI is a second class country, they certainly have first world tax appetite .
