Snowy79 Posted September 3, 2017 Posted September 3, 2017 I'm one for my sins. I retired at 52 so still another 3 years until my pension catches up. I wish I had retired at 40. Lol
Popular Post Snowy79 Posted September 3, 2017 Popular Post Posted September 3, 2017 The best bit of advice I'll give you if you come here at your age is not to fall in lust too soon. You will be fighting the women off and trust me they change over time. I'll probably get some grief but from what I've experienced from every guy that's happy with the first female they met their' s lots more wishing they'd took things slower. You will be blinded by their beauty and friendliness but in a lot of cases their, moods, jealousy and ability to spend your money is just as great. 5 1

It's got a great ex pat community and plenty to do with good transport links. The downside if you can call it that is there are literally hundreds of bar girls and freelancers in this small town. Downside for me as I'm not into soggy seconds on anybody and finding a so called good girl is difficult, as even those tend to have had a go at being a bar girl before deciding it wasn't for them. If you think importing a nice girl will help you'll soon see Filipino jealousy at its best. They're a nightmare. As far as basic finances go 80,000 peso and you can live comfortably here but then add on your visa costs and and medical issues. Accommodation tends to be on the expensive side, 16,000 to 20,000 peso per month before electricity which will average about another 5,000 peso. It's expensive as it's a tourist area with great diving, beaches, waterfalls etc. You could move further South on the island and get good digs for under 10,000 peso. My day consists of a minimum of50 lengths of the pool, a few miles walk come jog and if I've the energy left I'll do an hour in the gym. I eat out a lot and can easily spend 1,500 peso on two for daily food. About 500 peso if we cook our own. I go out socialising maybe 3 times per week. A couple of pub type bars and the rest are girlie bars. Beers vary from 45 peso in the drunks cafes to 80 peso in the pubs and up to 110 peso in the girlie bars. Soldier of opportunity Posted September 26, 2017 Author Posted September 26, 2017 Awesome to hear your all settled then mate, so you living off a retirement fund or working as well mate/business or something? I think location is key for good settling so having a few expats or ex squaddies around and about would be ace. Ive got a missus so I’m lucky then in that sense and she has her own income. so for me it’s finding a good work life balance and I’m happy. Thanks again
