Problem with paper bags is there hard to carry. Also wet things or cold tend to damage the bag which again is a pain if it breaks. I wonder how many trees get cut down to make paper bags.

That's funny in a way, because when plastic bags first came out in Canada many consumers said they want the paper not the plastic. That went on until supermarkets started charging for the paper and giving the plastic for free. Now many supermarkets don't even bag your stuff. You can bring your own bags or use boxes if they have any available or just stuff the groceries from the cart into the car without bags. (Does S&R still do that in Cebu?) Hard to stuff into the car from a trolley when you use taxis and then have to get it up to the 22nd floor.

Costco in the U.S. has not been supplying anything to put your groceries in for years and everyone loves Costco. S&R is modeled after Costco. Costco usually does have an area for empty boxes that can be used by customers if they grab a few, but that is up to the customer and they are not always available. Some customers will look for an almost empty box on the shelf while shopping and grab those. If you don't use a box or bring a bag, then it goes direct from cart to trunk. If you have good strong reusable bags, they last a long time and make handling your purchases in taxis and elevator much easier. If you have a lot of heavy stuff, you can get one of those little carts. We bought one for the wet market to use if my wife is going to buy heavy things. 1
Gary D Posted September 25, 2017 Posted September 25, 2017 In Subic plastic bags have been banned for a couple of years or so. Boxes and paper bags are supplied. Last time we were in the Pure Gold there they were using cloth bags but having to double them up if you have more than one bottle, more than one just went straight through the bottom of the bag.
