Popular Post Jack Peterson Posted October 28, 2017 Popular Post Posted October 28, 2017 (edited) There is a moral to this so if it is long winded I am sorry The Moral is; Never judge a book by it's cover Mainly, I think this will not be a surprise to anyone from the UK. I guess there are the same elk in the US and other countries. Like here, Way back in the 40's /50 and maybe the early 60's just about everything had a value. Over the last 4/5 years I have been having a beer or two with a well known Totter in my Barangay, most evenings of the week, he rides a tricycle, (Push bike with side carrier.) Most of us from the West never seem to understand just what is rubbish and what is not, this guy collects just about anything and certainly keeps my Rubbish to a minimum. We often talk about the Locals and Laziness BUT This guy is an Inspiration to say the least, he has never talked about money in real terms but you only have to see and talk to him to understand he is not anything like a lot I certainly come across. Now I don't think any of us are wasters for want but there is always something left over, Bits of Plastic pipe, Alumininium , Plastic Bottles, cable and such, you name it he will take it , segregate it and sell it at the Nearby scrap yard. His name is Louise (Lewis?) and is always presentable although, you can see he has done a hard days graft. So I hear, is jack going to get to the Punchline? Yes soon When I arrived at my local Sori Sori this evening, the Beer Lorry was just arriving. The Driver could not get to turn as he wished as there was a New Jimny Parked where he wanted to be. SO, one of the guys came over to the shop and asked if they knew who owned this Shiny new machine. The Shop owner talked a while to others and Guess who came forward to move the little Jimny? YEP our Louise (Lewis?) Just Goes to show "Where there is Muck there is money" or "Where there is Trash there is cash" Hat off to you my hard Working Little Friend of some years now Edited October 28, 2017 by Jack Peterson a little punctuation if you don't mind 11

Hard working up at 3am to start his day. It was a few years later I discoverd he was the proud owner of a house and home not far away from me but way out of my league! Anyone who works hard and gets on in life is to be admired like your scrapman Jack. Sadly milkmen are few and far between these days as like most people ourselves included buy milk at the supermarket for convenience. Nice story Jack enjoy your evening beer. 3
Forum Support Mike J Posted October 28, 2017 Forum Support Posted October 28, 2017 I hope he was able to purchase it outright and not paying the exorbitant interest rates. It would be a shame if he were to be making payments, fall behind, and have it repossessed by the bank.

On that I never spoke but if his house is anything to go by he will have paid cash as I said, an Inspiration to all As with another topic on Hidden or untold wealth, Dumaguete is quite a unique place at times, this is just one of them Jack Morning All

No matter what the weather was the milk was always delivered and the epmty bottles was collected, could carry around 4 bottles in each hand and if it was so cold the odd bottle would freeze to your hand too and burn it, those was the days working for a couple of bob. Snowy79 Posted October 31, 2017 Posted October 31, 2017 I think in today's society the bread and milk wouldn't stay on your door step long before it went walk abouts. 1
