Queenie O. Posted November 7, 2017 Posted November 7, 2017 Cebu is often in the news for foreigners involved with minors. Cordova Cebu is often in the news for foreigners/girlfriends involved with underage cyberporn business. Recently they have been considering a 20,000 peso reward for any public reports of suspected individuals that lead to an arrest. These laws although vague, I think are necessary to help protect children from themselves and families and foreigners who mean to do them harm. As far as foreigners go, ignorance of the law isn't really any excuse. Be aware and mindful is a good policy I think.

I totally agree with the laws. When I read about foreigners abusing "young" children like aged 10, 12 or even 17 in some cases I get quite upset and I am happy to see the authorities enforce the law. What I disagree with is the blanket enforcement of the law, against foreigners, right up until 0001 on the clock on the day the girl turns 18. There is some grey area and in the past the cops had leeway to give someone the benefit of the doubt. The way the laws are currently enforced, some of these old fellows are the victims. They are lured here by some sweet young thing and her family who tell him he only looks 29 and he acts like a teenager so he will fit in fine with their daughter and the family. Sometimes it really does work, but with the current pattern of enforcement it is starting to be a scam to get some gullible old fool separated from his money. Being a gullible old fool myself, I hate to see my compatriots victimized . Some of us old guys look in the mirror and don't see a 60+ old guy. We still see Prince Charming who is looking for Cinderella. Foolish, maybe. Abusive, not the way I see it. 6

Would be interesting to know if hotel staff would also report an older Filipino checking in with a 17 year old.
JDDavao II Posted November 7, 2017 Posted November 7, 2017 I'm still confused that there could be an arrest when she effectively had an adult chaperone in the room with her in the form of her adult sister. I've been alone in a hotel room with an underage girl and her adult relative (various friends of my wife). Could the police have burst in and arrested me while I was doing nothing more sinister than waiting for my wife to arrive?

Dirty old men that think they can do whatever they like as soon as they've left their nation's borders. If it was my daughter I'd save the Danish government many years' worth of funding for his pension. There has been a massive crackdown across the US since Trump became president. Thousands arrested in human trafficking and kiddie porn rings since the election. May Duterte follow the same course and lock up the trash. Hollywood is burning down right now with hidden things coming to light. Good riddance. Sadly in the UK a foitballer was jailed for having sex with a 15yr old who looked in her 20s and was in a nightclub when he met her. The same newspaper was running a story about a 67yr old Muslim who brought his pregnant 13yr old wife into the country and was given a council house ( state unded home). Seams there's laws then there's laws. 3

What is she doing on a dating site if she is not looking for something? Perhaps she said she was 22 and the guy just believed her. Could have been a setup which has happened before where everyone except the foreigner gets a financial reward. Part of the problem here from my observations are after talking to many visiting westerners or even those who are now living here is that often they know nothing about the country or the people and they come here without any research. A couple of weeks ago I was talking to an American, he tells me he is going home on Tuesday, this was a Friday. I said how long have you been here and his reply was 5 weeks so I said have you extended your visa? No, he says, I did not know I had to. I said you better go to immigration Monday as now you wont get your passport back the same day like it used to be and you will miss your flight, oh he says. Another guy I know was looking at a business to buy, I said you know it cant be in your name? Oh I did not know that and there are many more examples I could give of people who are clueless. 7

Since all Filipinos are fully aware of RA 7610 Section 10(b) I'm sure they would assume they were within the 4th degree consanguinity required by law.

I asked it this morning: "Mirror, mirror on the wall, who is the most Gwapo one of all?" And I am sorry to tell you it did not reply "Steve" 1
