Popular Post PaulB Posted March 29, 2018 Popular Post Posted March 29, 2018 All I thought I would share our experience of shipping the Dogs and Wife from Abu Dhabi, UAE back home to the Philippines and on to our house in Isabela this week. The wife and dogs were booked on the same, overnight, flight and Etihad put the dogs facing each other and ensured they had water. The Captain came back to my wife to reassure her the dogs were in the hold, the temperature he had set it and they were comfortable. The flight was 9 hours and they all landed safely. My wife was met from the plane and the guy who met her helped her get her bags and off to the customs area to collect the dogs. The paperwork took a couple of hours during which the dogs were taken from their crates and given a shower and dried off and then handed over to my wife. All aboard the van and driver we hired (rear seats removed) and off for 11 hour drive to our house which included several stops. All arrived and all doing well. Never seen a cat that big!! So now I am sat here in Abu Dhabi on my own dreaming of when it is my turn to have a one way ticket. 18 months and counting!! I do have some San Mig Light and Emp Light to soften the blow!! All in all it cost Php 200,000 to relocate the dogs and wife but it is money well spent as they have made the house a home. Thank you all for your great tips and advice which made the trip much easier. A great testament to this forum! Happy to answer any questions if anyone has any, By the way the dogs are real celebrities now with everyone coming to visit! Paul 4 1
OnMyWay Posted March 29, 2018 Posted March 29, 2018 Great to hear that they had such a smooth trip! Sounds like the airline did a great job! Did you give the dogs any meds to keep them calm?
PaulB Posted March 29, 2018 Author Posted March 29, 2018 On My Way We chose not to give them anything. I am proud of them as I worried so much but they have come through it fine. Not an easy decision to make and glad i didn't travel as the wife is the calm head. Lucky I work for the airline so I had everyone alerted so was lucky there. Also i believe the timing is good as they are 5 and 6 years old so any longer really could have been tough on them. Dogs are settling in fine. Also lucky we have a wall and a gate so no Askals met yet. My advice, Make a plan and Stick with it. Don't second guess yourself. Paul

Jollygoodfellow Posted March 30, 2018 Posted March 30, 2018 How do the dogs get on with Filipino bred dogs since there must be a language problem. 2 3

Dogs adapt quickly and will learn Barkalog quickly. I'm assuming they already know Barklish and Barkibic.
