Ryan. Posted September 30, 2018 Posted September 30, 2018 When I moved Globe told me they could not provide service for 6-12+ months and I still had to pay for the rest of my contract- notwithstanding the new area had Globe and they were effectively refusing service. Oligarchies being what they are next stop PLDT. It 16 total phone calls and contacts to get FIBR. It was available, It was not available, wait awhile, do a chant around a campfire, etc. The trademark Filipino style excuse was they were on the way to install it but they did not have a load to contact me. Another one was a call back request to a shared cell phone that was passed on. Anyway I pay P3600 and it compares to basic cable in the U.S for speed (with more down time). I can often download a HD movie in ten to twenty minutes. Customer service so bad you can’t make it up though.

I guess I am lucky that SubicTel Fibr here has their own CS locally so I don't go through the other PLDT CS channels. We have had a few problems in 2 years and they have always responded fairly quickly. BTW, the speed to the US servers when using Pure VPN seems to have picked up now. I usually get 20-30 mbps. Huggybearman Posted September 30, 2018 Posted September 30, 2018 Thats interesting that PLDT have a new modem. I will enquire if I can exchange my old one which only has one usable LAN port. We have had fibr here for about 18 months and speed and service can be very variable. To the extent that we also have Globe fibr as a back-up as we need reliable fast internet for business. Fortunately they have never been 'down' at the same time. I am looking forward to the new providers that Duterte has been espousing for about a year now. I hope they get approval to start new internet services. That could only be good for the country and a much needed kick up the arse for the useless incumbents! One can live in hope I suppose! 😀
