Snowy79 Posted November 1, 2018 Posted November 1, 2018 I'll find out today as I'm back on the island later. It stinks of preparation for Galaxy building something big. A nice wide access road could come in handy.

Hmmm, could it be the locals doing what locals always do? http://cnnphilippines.com/news/2018/10/27/denr-post-boracay-trash.html EDIT: Just to add a personal opinion. I no longer have any desire to go to Boracay at any time during my remaining life. There are too many other great places to go without the headaches. I saw pictures of garbage on the beach there and foreigners where blamed, until that is somebody pointed out that it was only open to locals at that point mmm. I agree with your edit.

My wife immediately said, "Foreigners" but the description was of two soda bottles and a packet of instant noodles. I thought, who the heck eats instant noodles without cooking them? So, I'm wondering. The Manila Bulletin published a photo on Facebook that showed a clear plastic trash bag tied to a tree with a sign over it that read "Plastic Only". The post was deluged with Filipinos arguing over whether the government should have provided better trash bins for all the money that is being spent there, or whether the photo was "bias" and against Duterte. I think I was the only one to point out that it wasn't a bag for garbage but one clearly for plastic bottles that still had trash and shrimp cracker bag in it. With the PNP station being moved to Boracay, I wonder why they can't blanket the beach with patrolmen and up the littering fine to P10,000. And then I remember it's the Philippines... 3
graham59 Posted November 5, 2018 Posted November 5, 2018 Yes, the Philippines could be such a wonderful tourist draw... if only. The litter-strewn landscape is truly depressing though. Tourists have many many choices...and the whole of google to make up their minds for them. So, images of cops kicking over sandcastles, plus a whole island being closed for 6 months for 'cleaning', might just sway things. (No images of any fancy new sewage treatment plant for the island though, are there ?)

According to youtube they had one there years ago but it either did not get used or was an epic fail. Too bad really. Looks like it would have been a solution
