OnMyWay Posted January 29, 2019 Posted January 29, 2019 (edited) This morning one of my neighbors posted a link to a Facebook live video of a huge fire in Orion, Bataan. I know the area a bit as that is where the ferry goes to Manila. When I had looked at Google maps, I had seen a super densely populated area right on the bay, and sure enough, that is where the fire was. 600-800 families lost their homes. I believe it was in the area marked on this map. The second photo gives you an idea of how bad it was. Edit: Adding picture. Compare to the map above! Neighbors are putting together some relief goods and I will try to contribute tomorrow. Here is the FB video from this morning. TimL Posted January 30, 2019 Posted January 30, 2019 Very sad. :( Based on how everything is stacked up against everything else here, it’s almost impossible to keep fires from wiping out huge amounts of homes in one fell swoop. It seems that buffer zones between buildings is pretty much non-existent here.
