It is probably only a matter of time before the Chinese or the Russians get their hands on one but I hope it takes longer than this.

I was under the impression the export version of the F35 had different and substandard specifications anyway.

The British are looking at using the Meteor ram-jet missile (as used on the Typhoon) and the Israeli F-35 will have external fuel capability so different sure but... substandard?  One could make a case that the Meteor is arguably superior (it's certainly got a longer range) for example.

They'll probably diverge more over time though.

Meteor is probably the best BVR AA missile in the world right now. But it's of less use for 5G stealth fighters than it would be for 4G non-stealth, where the additional range is of greater utility.
