My advice is to ask the sister to send your wife the mortgage details and the amount owed .

Regarding 100.000 pesos for an extention for a water supply business the water business alone can cost more than that, so once the extention is built will the sister want another loan to pay for the water business ? Another thing to think about taking the area we live in there are 5 water businesses in our road alone , the ones that sell the most are the ones that deliver ! So the cost of a motorcycle and sidecar has to be included !

Our bank here in the philippines is BDO and they have many foreclosed homes for sale !

We can only advise you in the end its up to you what you do !

Thank you, I have made my mind up all ready , I cannot afford to lose that amount of money, a few hundred to help I could but not this amount.

May be get the husband to work that may help the family out, but that has nothing to do with me.

I learned a long time ago Steve that you can't save everyone.  Not even your own kids sometimes as hard as we try.  And if the husband isn't working and trying to help his family it's his problem.  You would just be enabling them.

Me and my wife have learned this hard lesson a long time ago.  Still hurts though.  Here is a link I found for foreclosure laws in the Philippines. https://www.foreclosurephilippines.com/procedure-for-judicial-foreclosure-of-real-estate-mortgage-rule-68-rules-of-court/ 😢😢

Steve I mean no disrespect to your Filipino family members but it seems some see you as a free ATM machine. Three island 🌴 rule is the distance best keep from those folks.

An uncle had taken a loan from a bank on his fathers land, the bank was on the verge of foreclosing. We bailed them out but dealt directly with the bank. I beleive it was a ploy to get the land by buying it from the bank after foreclosure on the cheap as the uncle wasn't happy with us stepping in.

They see Emma as a ATM , but while i hold the purse strings it will be-looked at and talked between us and if we can help we will but I will not be lied too again .

The three island rule , does England , Europe and Asia count then.

Seems to me you know you shouldn't get involved and are seeking reinforcement for a "no". Here it is. There is no way you would ever be paid back. On top of that, they will keep asking for more and more money.

And that is the only way I would get involved. As for the water purifying business seems to me to be the latest in their schemes and I would not touch it with a barge pole as they will not do it properly and it will be everyone else's fault. As for the extension tell the husband to get a job and pay for it in stages. They don`t wait long between schemes to ask you do they Steve.
